Lets see those shops! PICS

Some amazing shops here... mine is dedicated to my work which is bicycles so it would bore you all to death although many of the tools I have, and plan to get, will help with my other metallic addiction.

Great thread and great posts!

I love shop picts; and no not just to see other's equipment.
I think it is great way to learn new/better ways to organize and store stuff. I feel like I spend a fair amount of time improving storage and efficiency in my shop, so work goes smoother, and seeing photos of other's shops helps a lot with that.

Here are photos of my shop (which I need to update-always improving and adding stuff, it is a little more crowded now...).

If you just click on a photo you can do a slide show and avoid my long-winded writing.
You can also see some of my previous work spaces.

Thanks,
Brome

Rick, the drill press needs lowered a little so you can multitask. :D

i just finished a 1 1/2 week revamping of my garage into a more usable work space... so it's an evolving shop... but i can now call it a shop... reading some of the above post though i need to re-think the buffer... though the eventual plan is to put a 2" x 72" belt sander right there anyways... and maybe make my own buffing machine... with some gaurds and a slower speed... especially reading that other thread... i've already put my left hand through a table saw at work a few years back... fortunately i was doing everything i could to minimize the risk short of not using the saw... so i still have all my fingers... just a lot of scarring across 3 of them... but back to the shop pic's...

i took the factory legs off of the band saw and used it as a sort of extention to the work bench... but the switch is on the other side... so i have to go around to use it... i won't accidentally turn it on...

i checked out a book from the library, and it recommended that i have a granite slab for sanding and measuring... so i used an old rolling table top that had broken and fitted it into place... being in front of the toolbox will insure that it stays fairly clean... cause otherwise i can't open the bottom drawer.. lol...

yes i checked for allowable tolerances on the water heater before i put the work bench that close to it... plus i made a little cutout on that side of the bench and faced the back of my toolbox towards it... it's an electric water heater... so i don't have to worry about dust igniting or anything...

the filing cabinet at the end of the table is an index card filing cabinet... nice heavy ball bearing drawer slides, and not so tall that i've got things piled on top of each other in the drawers... i've got alot of stuff in there... and one free drawer just for knife stuff... the stand you see sticking out from under the vise has a 1 1/2 hp motor attached to it... i'm saving it for when i get a chance to build my 2x72 grinder (hopefully this spring/summer)

as i said... i'm sure it'll evolve from here... but it's a start... you should have seen it before i started re-organizing it... i couldn't actually walk through there... leftover parts from last fall's complete gut/rebuild of my 29' camper... so i needed an excuse to clean it up again anyways... though i may never again see it this clean... lol...
