Lets see those shops! PICS

Some great newer pictures have been added! Never gets old seeing new shop pics.

Erik...so glad to see the shop is taking shape in the new house. We need to catch up!

Here are a couple new shots from mine....just moved a surface grinder into it's new home this week, and I can assure you that getting 950 lbs off of a pallet and into position poses a bit of a challenge!:D Going to be converting it to run belts ASAP!

Dang Caswell, some nice toys you got there! Jonny, that's great that you got a surface grinder. I keep hoping one will turn up around here...

Okay, I've come to the conclusion after seeing the latest pics from JCaswell that either he works for the CIA or he is Santa Claus! (wait a sec, doesn't Santa also work for the 'Company'?) Nice shop Bro. :)

:DThanks! A neighbor who is a jewelry maker came over and introduced himself after tacking the sound of my forge. He said my shop was like Disneyland. That was a great compliment. :)

Here's a funny thing ...

I just got this cold saw (love it!) with some BURIED TREASURE I found clearing out the dark recesses of my shop!

Demolishing a bunch of old built-in shelving, I discovered a long forgotten box containing more than 5 pounds of Sterling and Fine silver tucked way back in the debris (NO JOKE!).
I bought the silver little by little back when I was doing a lot of hilt work in Silver. (Back then it was only a few bucks an ounce so I'd buy much more than a job would require so as not to run out during the project. The rems ended up in this box.)
Rediscovering this big dusty box full of Sterling casting grain, sheet and wire was a happy $urprise!:)
The timing couldn't have been better since I really needed this saw and it cost pretty much exactly what I got for the silver from the assayer.:thumbup:

I finally finished my temporary shops(steel and leather) and just need to get the work stations a bit more organized. I could only use half the garage and the laundry/bathroom in the house. It took some planning and a bit of rewiring but i think I can work here for the next 6-12 months.

What can I say?... It's temporary.:p

I actually have 5 full cords of wood stacked for this Winter. We have a wood burning fireplace to heat the house.

I saw in other threads you moved across the continent. (love your work btw) Just commenting about balance and tradeoffs....heat:food on the table.

From your picture (if you back away from it) it's yin/yang. 50/50. Something I could strive for. Congrats!

We definitely need to catch up, Jon. Sweet surface grinder - can't wait to see the belt version.

Some great looking shops. Jon I like your surface grinder it is on my wish list. I always say why does everything have to weigh so much. Rick how do you keep your shop so organized and clean? I am in the process of a rebuild so all my stuff is in a shipping container sitting in my front yard. Hoping to pour the slab on Monday.

What is the plywood for Rick?
To keep out leaf debris and snow when the door is up and I'm forging. There is some kind of wind current/eddy right in front of the garage. It creates a mini-tornado, that seems to always travel into the garage and visit me... lol. It also keeps a bit of the draft out. When I forge, I bring the door down just passed the top of the wood and it allows breeze-free ventilation.

Rick how do you keep your shop so organized and clean?
Well, this particular shop looks clean because I just finished making it. But I do try to keep a tidy shop and do so by making sure everything has a place and cleaning up EVERYDAY.

Jonny,

I have a Harig Super 612 also. Great machines. I have the factory base cabinet as your does, although mine does not have the motor mounted as your does. Is this motor for coolant or a vacuum motor that would attach to the guard?
