Let's see your GEC #74 Mustangs

Maple Tree, beautiful posting of a great knife. My 74 is near the top of my favorites because of it's F&F, comfort in use and it's S.S. Got to go get some lunch, for some reason I suddenly became very hungry. :)

Thanks redsparrow, I appreciate that. Yes, I agree, the F&F is top notch, and the walk & talk is perfect too (for me), love everything about it.
Bon appetite! ;)

I agree with y'all. The Mustang has become one of my favorite knives. And I'm having a tough time holding on to them!!

After a visit from my son and a friend of his from college, I'm down to these two! But I really do enjoy seeing young 'uns take to traditionals :)

Since the early reserves opened up for the 74 muskrat clip I thought I would bump this up.

Great pictures in here...

My only mustang, the originals moved too fast for me to snag one, love this Patten.

Late to the party but well worth the wait! I like everything about this one so much, I may have just received a new, number one all time favorite... and stainless to boot!!
Almost 4 months later and I still feel the same way. Sorry can't post updated pic, photo bucket isn't available to me.
What am I saying?!!;) It's stainless... nothings changed! :)

I wish the new 74s were coming in stainless. Love the model,,but prefer the SS.

just pre-ordered my #74 in snakewood. Gonna be a beautiful knife.

Will look good with the oak shield...

Fyi, DLT lists the "smooth dyed bone" as smooth oiled bone. I think it and the orange will look good too.

A cut swedge would be nice, especially considering they're Northfields. Unfortunately it doesn't show it on the cad image. At any rate, I threw in for a Snakewood also. You can't ever go wrong with Snakewood!

That makes at least 3 of us for a snakewood. After carrying the reclaimed chestnut (shown above) most days for the past 4 months, I could not resist a beautiful snakewood with oak leaf shield. Can hardly wait! Yeah... you might say I like the 74's. :)

I hope they show individual pictures of the snakewood. I'm hesitant to buy snakewood when I can't see what it looks like. I got one of the snakewood talons from DLT's last SFO and when I popped it out of the tube I thought it accidentally got swapped with a jobillo ... no stripes.

That's also an issue with the camel bone - you don't know what it will look like when pre-ordering.

I am glad these have an oak shield. I thought I read in another thread that GEC werent allowing special shields on SFOs. The oak shield is fantastic.

Man, I'm tempted to just bite the bullet on a snakewood reservation. Excited about the smooth yellow bone SFO, but not too sure about the muskrat clip blade...

My DLT 92 has less than stellar Snakewood as well. IMHO, the Jobillo covers were the accidental sleeper of that lineup. Mine is pretty amazing.

The cut swedge is what I really want to make this one different from last years Mustang. As for shields, the only thing I recall from GEC is that the stag will no longer have shields, along with no stamped shields on the smooth polished covers. The SFO's are being scaled back, but Shield shapes are open.

The collector in me loves that GEC is wildly popular and in high demand and the collector in me HATES that GEC is wildly popular and in high demand. I miss the days of '1 of 3' and stamped shields on Acrylic.

Ordering a knife sight unseen is always a crapshoot but with a GEC of this magnitude, you can always sell it for at least what you paid. The SFO's (especially Snakewood) will sell out long before production ends.

Well, I went ahead with it. I like to collect knives that I will use and am not much for flipping, so maybe I'll just end up with 2 knives from this run!

I agree, I'm much more inclined to purchase knives from dealers that allow you to reserve and pick the exact knife imaged. There's too much variance in the covers. They will sell out of them regardless, but much more satisfying for the customer to get exactly what you want. Anyway, back to knives.. The oak shield is really nice and the cover choices are great. Looking forward to see how these turn out.
