Let's see your good old basic fixed blades, Bowie's, Stickers, etc.

Halfneck, nice looking "Necker" and I like the P38 stuck into the pocket in the sheath.! When were you in the 187th? I went to Khandahar in April/May 2002 to teach the Vector Laser Range Finder to men of the 187th. John

I wanted to pick up a small solid fixed blade at a reasonable price. I went with a company I knew even though there are many others who I'm sure make excellent products. I picked up this small GEC with chestnut handles on the exchange. Solid little knife with excellent quality, a simple useful leather sheath, and the biggest tube I've ever seen. It's destined for kitchen duty.

Nice knife, Alan! I really like the striping in the chestnut, some of those were pretty plain.
Be aware that even though it's a GEC branded knife, it has 1095 steel.

The tube is quite comical, isn't it, Alan? Great looking Chestnut. My Tortoise Shell B&T from GEC has done a bunch of kitchen/dinner table work. It performs like a GEC should, imo.

Congrats on the new Buck Special and the "special" sheath (very unique). I have put my special through a lot of work hunting and camping and it never faltered. I'm intrigued by the D.H. Russell lockblade, particularly the jimping on the blade back. Cool.

I'm definitely loving the 119 and it should make a great EDC fixed blade for me.
The one thing I dont like is the loose belt loop, but it was an easy fix. I just added 2 layers of bike innertube rubber right above the buck logo and ran my belt behind the loop instead of where it's supposed to go, I don't like loose floppy belt knives and this took care of it right away.

Now for the Grohmann mini Russel lockback, its a great knife and I'm so thankful to Duncan for sending it to me.
The jimping feels really nice though I don't really use it.
If I was using it to process small game or something I'm sure it would definitely be great.

A small nicker from PUMA; Solingen with stag handles

and of course a full tang construction

I love this design and my favorite "pattern" when it comes to fixed blades... incredibly useful knife

Great looking knives, as usual folks. One of my favorite threads.

Andi, what does the '10/RC' refer to? Would seem to be referring to hardness, and yet....

I was a medic with 2/187th Inf. from 1995 to 1999. Got medically retired due to 4th stage melanoma so I missed out on the sandbox adventures.

Thanks for the kind words on my knife & sheath set-up. Means something coming from someone whose articles I always enjoyed reading.

Thank you for the kind words and glad to see you are still with us. John
