Thompson,
Love those flint knapped Obsidian's. One of the oldest fixed blades in the history of man kind to be sure. As you probably know they found the very same type knife in the right hand of the 'Iceman', frozen for 5,000 years with an arrow in his back. The poor old guy lay in the perma frost of Switzerland all that time and was found several years back up there on the Mountain. He also had along with him a fur-lined framed-up type back-pack and other survival gear.. An incredible story on the history channel, should anyone like to check it out.

BTW, although I have shown it before, here is my Native American version of the Flint Knapped Obsidian knife by one of the Cherokee Nation's finest in North Carolina.. Made just recently in the traditional way..

Also I wanted to show off my new custom shaddowknives (Eddie White can be found on Blade Forums in the Knife Makers for sale forum) drop point hunter in a very classy natural bone that I got for far less than a days pay that is hollow ground just to perfection, not to mention a shaving arm hair sharp edge and a very versatile sheath that can be worn on the hip. Inside the waistline concealed and reversed, as a boot-knife, concealed inside a vest or jacket pocket, etc, etc. Yea Baby, its my new very, very..

Sunburst, You know me by now, I am a fixed blade freak!. For the money Eddie White(shadowknives) is by far and away the best value in custom knives out there today with 30+ years of grinding expierience!

His wife Lora and he are extremely easy to work with and I can tell you that his fit and finish exceeds the big boyz like the Doz*e*s and other custom makers as well for about 1/3'd the price..

Sunburst, You know me by now, I am a fixed blade freak!. ..

Ahhh but that's what sets you apart sunnyd, it takes one to know one...:D Would you by chance have a site I could visit on the web for some more investigation..

Thanks,

Sunburst

And thanks for giving me a reason to play with my toys!:D

I left 3 out, a Ontario Raider Bowie, Trailmaster, and another seal by SOG. If you can't tell, I love the fixed blade. I am planning on moving up in the world, to some Randle's and more fine collectables, just waiting for the chance. God bless, Gene

What a fabulous collection gunknifenut!. Thanks for sharing that with us here!

sunburst,
The following is his website: www.shadowknives.com

Thanks sunnyd! That's one of my favorites, too. It's Moroccan leather, probably wrapped by a native in N. Africa at some point during the war (at least that's the highest likelihood, as hypothesized by some folks in Bernard Levine's forum). The whitish/yellow weave seen on parts of the handle is actual dried grass.

I'm seeing lots of great knives in this thread, including yours

Sunburst, that is a fine looking knife. No doubt you can't wait to wrap your hand around it.

SunnyD is a bad influence! Thanks to you, I just made a payment to Eddie for a bone handled mini-IX! He happened to have one on hand so I don't even have to wait 2 or 3 weeks. I'm looking at making that one my 50th birthday present to myself. So, yeah, I'm wired waiting just like Sunburst is, and it's all your fault. Okay, maybe Eddie shares the blame for making such sweet looking knives.

Btw, the one you show looks like the larger IX or is that the Model II? What are the specs on that one there? I feel the funds disappearing again soon.

This will also be the first handmade I've ordered for myself. Those prices are excellent btw!

This is one of my earliest stag handled knives, and it's still one of my favorites.
I just took some new photos of it.

Oh yeah, Phil. I've always liked that purdied up Trail Master, just never had one. I had one of the standard Trail Masters in the late 80s. I sure wish I hadn't let a friend trade me out of it while I was in Alaska. I used it in the wood both in North Carolina and later in Alaska. I don't know about the newer ones, but the early ones were great. I always wanted one in stag just because.

Do any of these count?
