Picked up this Ron Post knife from a local brick and mortar store. This is part of his fur handling series and called the Large Pelter. Turns out it is a really great daily carry knife. Bare bones wood scales, simple leather sheath but ground thin in 440C steel it is a very handy knife. Fairly inexpensive at a little over 60 Canadian dollars for a hand made knife. He has a series of these in various shapes geared towards fur handling but some would make great hunting and everyday blades too.

I've had my usual idea that's better than making a sheath.

I've ordered another of these Mexican sheathes with the basketweave-stamped panel. Should be here tomorrow, and will hold the knife just fine while I muse about the perfect sheath.

I finally got my generic sheath for the H-15 from another source.
No hurry now to restitch the original sheath.

Recently had my gunny blade converted to a full flat grind by the wonderful people at Bark River! I love using this thing in the kitchen and any reduction in blade thickness really helps. Don't worry, it's still robust enough to munch through logs.
