  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Let's see your good old basic fixed blades, Bowie's, Stickers, etc.

this is a western W49, after I read Bill Bagwell's thoughts on modifications, and spent some time grinding, filing, replacing handle with osage. feels pretty good

Great job! Doesn't look like the same knife at all. Sweet looking sheath as well!

That's an interesting Schrade you have there. Is it a boning knife? I have a fillet knife that has a similar but longer blade.

Bruce, it is a Schrade Uncle Henry 164 (once Staglon) that I rehandled in Macassar (I believe, due to lighter streaks) Ebony brought back from the Philipines after WWII by a GI, and somehow I ended up with it. Sheath by yours truly. :)

Couple of my Breedens with the big boy being the newest. 7 inch blade out of 3/16 inch 01 stock wearing a new set of pants by Marcus Claxton. The kephart is one I designed and Bryan built. 4.5 inch blade out of 5/32 inch 01 stock, also wearing some Claxton leather. Both are great knives/

Thank you for posting this. Wow. I've been looking at these for quite some time marveling at the grinds. This pic really shows it off.

Thanks Mack! I got lucky with this piece of elk round, the two sides both had pretty nice and well matched character...

Don't tell me this was another dog chew Duane?! ;)

It looks smashing. Did you round off the edges ever so slightly?

No, no dog chew here Thom;) this was a round sent to me from a friend in Pacific North West Canada...the edges are ever so slightly rounded, I am going to put a gentle slope on the left grip where the thumb rests, it is the only hot spot on it. The grip is superb on this knife...

Svord Von Tempsky, I realize it's a large, obtrusive knife, and as of lately I've been establishing myself as a small knife guy, but this Bowie has caused me to experience a major setback, It chops like a small axe, and is sharp enough to perform lighter tasks when needed. Even though I cannot deny it's practicality, I bought it mostly to admire the workmanship it exhibits. It's got a certain "Old World" charm about it.
