Let's see your Maxped Fatboy Jumbos

IMO, people make too much of the "tactical" thing.

"Gun" people will suspect anything that's big enough to be carrying a gun. In my experience, non-gun people won't suspect even a dedicated gun carrier of carrying a gun.

People's desire to look non-tacticool, have had them carrying so many different colors that pretty much anything but a camo scheme is acceptable. I did a little experiment last summer. Walked down the street with a loaded (no frame) medium ALICE in OD. Next day, my foliage Zulu with all it's PALs webbing. Next day a medium ALICE in woodland camo. The first two didn't get a second glance, the camo got the stink eye several times.

That being said, I take advantage of the fact that some will see such bags as a gun carrier. How?

I dislike off-body carry. So, in using such a bag, I carry it away from where my gun actually is, and it distracts possible ne'er do wells from the real threat.

Food for thought.

Just a regular old Jumbo in OD. These pics are from another forum showing the holster mod I did. I've found the single shoulder bag somewhat uncomfortable for long carry. Then again, I probably carry too much kit!

I haven't found the need to add any pouches as of yet, but time will tell.

Sorry the flash was kind of hot and I didn't edit them.

no I did not a friend hooked me up with several,I have a Gray kydex with pink para cord for the wife to match her Izula and a small black one for a mini bic for my son
Mike Billman I think his BF id is mbhanzo

I got the S-type Maxpediton Jumbo. I carry a walking stick, machete, or rifle in my right hand, so I like the bag on my left, out of the way.

Since it is technically unlawful for me to carry a large knife concealed in GA, I clipped my RC-6 to the outside along the strap for cross draw.

Oddly enough, it is legal for me to carry my revolver concealed, since I have a permit for concealed carry.

I'm not going far, so I don't have all the survival gear with me. Just a poncho if it rains, a multi-tool, and eating utensils for luch if I need them.
MAX004.jpg

Usually, I just carry a water bottle for my little hikes. My camera and a few other items fit in the accessory pouch.

I tried out a Fatboy versipak for a while and did not like it. Would ride up on my neck to much for my taste. I really like the new Blue and Orange colors they have come out with. I wish they made a Condor in the new blue/foliage!

I like their stuff alot. I'm glad this thread was brought back up. I'd love to see more folks post theirs since hopefully after Christmas I'll finally get around to putting mine together correctly.

Something to think about for those who don't like the shoulder bag but want to be able to access your gear without removing the bag. I have a Maxped Sitka, and I really like it. I like the jumbo but don't like the bag banging around on my hip. So I got the Sitka. It is the single strap pack, and it is quite comfortable. I use it for my edc, and I prefer a lighter payload. it does have a second strap that comes from the bottom and snaps into the shoulder strap. It holds it very secure and is a qrb that can be unclipped with one hand. Also it is designed to be accessed from the front of your body while being worn. You just reach back and pull it around, and you can open all three compartments very easily. My only "gripe", if you can call it that is that it doesn't have the pen/notebook pocket that some of the other bags do, like the lower pocket on the Falcon II. I added a M2 (I think) to the strap originally then moved it to the side, so I had a place to put my keys that I could get into without opening the whole bag. The Kodiak is similar, just bigger. I think, from what i have seen, you could easily overload the Kodiak, and make it uncomfortable. I will try and get pics up, might take a few days with it being Christmas and all. Anyway, just something to think about.

I agree a gun person is going to know. The rest will just think your gay :D:)

I'd post pics of mine as well, but I don't yet have any cool RAT stuff hanging on the outside... soon.

Post it up brother. I for one would like to see the stika. I am on the fence on these man bags. :o
Owning RAT gear doesnt make you accepted here. Sharing and learning about the survival and cool gear is why people are attracted to this place. Having a fun environment to do it is why most return.
