Lets see your paracord wrapped Izula!

has anyone tried to put a small fire steel inside the cut out in the handle and then wrapping over it. Seems like it would be a great way to always have an extra fire steel.

I've thought about doing that for a while, finally got around to it. I used the flint/magnesium stick that comes with the full Izula kit. It's a bit long as is, so it needs to be trimmed to fit.

Thought a traditional spiral wrap might be boring, so I decided to try something different...

i'm liking that wrap -looks grippy.A how to would be nice please.

it´s called a cobra stitch often used in paracord bracelets. a tutorial on the bracelet can be found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KTxzeYybyw. instead of the 2 inner strands of paracord, use the izula handle.

Yup, that's exactly what it is. The cobra stitch isn't very hard(many tutorials on youtube), but it is rather difficult to do on the Izula; the cord wants to loosen and slide around if you don't wrap it extremely tight and my hands took quite a beating. Looked like I just got back after being tied to a radiator in Fallujah.

Beyond that, this wrap does add about half an inch total to the width of the handle! It looks nice and it's grippy, but functionally I don't think it's ideal. I might try some variations or other styles incorporating the fire steel.

That is awesome pretty much exactly what i had in mind. I just don't have an izula yet :( maybe I can join the rat pack soon an enter the contest.

Im lovin those Izulas. The self custom wraps are cool..i will have to get one soon. Im afraid I ll spend more time wrapping the handle than using it.

Here ya go...

It's basic but it is wrapped TIGHT. So tight I don't want to take it off, I'm not sure I could redo it so well. Not sure what I did the first time so well.

My Izula is wearing the cobra stitch also, but I find that the edges dig in too much in my hands and the finger choil area becomes uncomfortable. I think I'm going back to a thinner wrap.

yea, the handle does become something like a spatula. I've run out of paracord and waiting for some in the mail, but I'm thinking of trying to flip the cobra stitch side ways so the spine of the wrap ends up in the flat side parts of the handle.

New paracord arrived! I flipped the cobra stitch on its side - much more comfortable since the spine doesn't dig in. The firesteel is still in there.

That looks really good, even if it does add to the bulk. Here's mine: pretty basic. But I love it no less.

Standard wrap with gutted cord, very different feel than with normal cord. It's slim but still has more grip than if it was unwrapped, plus it looks cool. I like it.
Same wrap, better image. ;)

Those are some nicely wrapped knives. I'm having trouble curbing my enthusiasm. I have 2 Izula's inbound. Can't wait till I get to try wrapping them for myself. Counting the days.
