That's a sweet Engineers Knife. Nice full blade, crisp stamp on the shield, and absolutely wonderful looking covers. I love old Camillus bone.

This one arrived in the mail today. It's a pretty amazing piece. Limited to 343 pieces. Blade steel has been upgraded to 440C. Amboina burl covers. Special shield. Leather slip and chain. Red pouch. Crazy nice packaging.

Much nicer than the Camillus-made Remington Trailhands. Not perfect, but much nicer.

It's a real gentleman's scout.

Hoowee! What a lovely looking scout. I may have to investigate those for myself.

Looks like a winner, Buzz! Boker makes some nice knives.

That's a nice sport/camp knife Buzz. Always like to have a wine/cork opener for those occasions hiking with the wife. Noticed also that the shield seems to be special for this knife!

Wow, Buzz, that's really cool. I like the small clip secondary and recessed area to keep the bail out of the way while using the main. And, oh yeah, it's really handsome, too. :)

Very nice Buzz, I would like to hear a few of your thoughts?

Sure thing. But where to start? I asked the vendor to make sure that the knife blades had good snap. That was of primary importance to me, as this knife will be a user. So things like aesthetics were not high on the list. And the covers do have some issues. If you look toward the corkscrew, there are 2 dots on the wood covers. It looks like they're knots in the burl that were to deep to be sanded down and buffed out. The covers are also not very flat. It's hard to capture in a picture, but they're a bit unevenly surfaced, and you can feel some of the grain. But overall, I'd rate the aesthetics as quite high. The pins are very nicely flushed to the covers, and That amboina burl is too beautiful to not forgive some inconsistencies.

The fit is good considering how unbelievably complicated the pattern is. Both blades are tight with good snap. I'd rate the pull of the spear blade at a 5, and the small clip around a 3 or 4. The can opener and cap lifter aren't quite as perfect, but still decent. On the back side, the corkscrew is a hair loose, and awl has some wobble. But again, this is a very complicated design. I don't expect perfection with so many points of fit. I specifically asked the vendor to focus on the blades, and they did me a real solid.

One nagging issue though. Just like the Remington Trailhand, which is the same pattern, the cap lifter is horrible. I don't know why, but it's as if the cap lifter was never tested. It will need a bit of a regrind to actually lift bottle caps easily. But again, this issue seems to be part of the history of the pattern, so it's somewhat forgiven.

One big point. Boker did an awesome job at putting an edge on the knife blades. Perfectly even edge grinds, that will push cut through newspaper on a crossgrain. Thank you Boker!!!!!

The pattern itself is a classic. It's not quite as heavy duty as a standard scout knife, but more refined and interesting. I call it a gentleman's scout. The main spear is a bit small for the size of the knife, but it does thankfully feature a second blade, and neither blade can be accidentally closed on the bail. I love that the blade steel has been upgraded to 440C on this knife. It's so hard to find scout knives with better than mediocre steel.

In comparison to the Camillus-made Remington Trailhand, the Boker wins on almost all counts. The Boker is lighter and thinner. The fit is far superior to all 3 of my Trailhands. Far nicer covers. A more usable can opener too.

All in all, this is a wonderful knife. I don't regret the purchase one bit, even at the high price tag. I expect my Boker Camp to get a lot of pocket time.
