Let's see your Scout/Camp knives

Although this years offerings from Queen and S/M seem to be much improved, it's still the brand of knife that you have to have in hand before buying or ask lots of questions and get lots of extra pictures. And like Case, go early 2000 or older.
Stick with Camillus! Here's a 97 Sword Brand, although in really good barely used condition, no etch as it seems for most Camillus knives I end up with. Love the big cap lifter. the scales are called some kind of "stag" but actually delrin.
And the one Queen to look for is the Robeson scout in strawberry bone from 1999. Has a short main also but in ATS steel. The cap lifter is thin, but lifts cap as good as my sak cadet.
Buzz was very helpful also in letting me know it was bone scales and not delrin.

Both of those are beauties!!!

The Robesons are indeed very nice. I really like that this model has a more normal can opener than the Queen scout.

I believe that Camillus called that "Indian Stag" on the 97. I'm envious. I don't have one of those yet. Hard to find in excellent condition. That's carbon steel, right?

Nice ones, Steve. Your thoughfulness and patience got you into a great pair of Scouts!!

thanks Buzz and Charlie. Buzz I believe it is stainless ( not), this one looks to be a late model and doesn't pick up any patina from a lime cutting. yea starting FAC already.

strike that, the patina is forming...

Well, I thought I was done with my Scout knives, but while rooting around for 3D shields (see nearby thread!), I came across this proud puppy, sitting in the corner of my Camillus display!
So, I popped it out for y'all to see!
I think the written term "Orange Bone" wouldn't fly to great heights like the term "Red Bone" has in the last near-century, but this set of handles I find mighty attractive!! I guess it's in the eye of the beholder - and the shade of Orange!
The tang stampings are "High Speed Steel U.S.A." and "Spiral Punch", with the Craftsman etching on the main.

Outstanding!!! You know I like it. Camillus is totally my game. That's a great shield on that one.

I saw another version of that shield last night on auction. Looks like Camillus used it for Keen Kutter also.

Hope you wind up with the KK, Buzz! Looks like the bone is nice!
Glad you like the Orange Bone!! It has obviously seen little use.

I agree with buzz Charlie- That camillus is in perfect condition!, That colouring of the Bone- Why anyone would not like that? I just dont Know, I think thats a very smart Knife!, I do remember adding a wee comment to when you said that you had up for show your last Scout!

Ha ha! I indeed found another one!
Schrade (over) Walden (over) N.Y.
Does anyone know what that reddish handle material is?
How about a date? (No U.S.A.)

My Grandfather carried this knife for many years, as is evident from that blade.
My mother gave me this after he passed and its a really cool memento that I like to bring out from time to time for reminiscing.
There's just something magical about old worn and aged bone and darkened carbon steel; man, if these knives could talk!

This is the only camp knife I own and really want to get myself one similar as a user.
