Let's see your Scout/Camp knives

Great knives!!! That Ulster BSA is positively beautiful. Everything about it is wonderful. Amazing bone. Just the right color and level of polish. Swedge on main blade. Awesome shield. It's the total package. Does that have the file work on the center brass spacer?

Luv the Camillus. Is it just me or is it almost impossible to find one of these knives with a full punch? The spiral punches are gorgeous though.

Excellent hi-res photos, the detail visible is incredible.

A real treat, Kevin.....mmmmmmmmm
Thank you for the comments guys, the previous owner took very good care of those last 5 scouts that I posted and I owe him thanks too (he knows who he is ;)).

Buzz- Yeah I was actually pleasantly surprised to see the added work (coining) on the bottom side of the center spacer on both of the Ulster knives I posted yesterday and today; I have 4 or 5 other Ulster BSA's like those and they do not have that. I will add some pictures of that later on today ;)

The WWII Ulster 10th Mountain finally arrived from Italy!! Very cool, it is a Junior size, at 3 3/8", with no wear or sharpening, but some age "spots". I have compared it with an older Official Ulster Scout. My scans are not as good as Buzz and Paul's stellar photography, but I think you will get the idea!!

It's good to see that yours managed to complete its long journey back to US soil. They really are a neat little knives. So many tiny details and nuances.

It's not an "if" knife for me it's more of a "when" knife :D I'm that person you know that will only buy things if it seems like a bargain... my goal on that knife is to get it for half of what it normally goes for  Wishful thinking I know but I am an optimist ;)

I'd be carrying that one too. The whole look of the knife is so warm and inviting. Knives like that have a way of transporting you back in time, and to a place far more adventurous that we probably inhabit now.

I'll be headed to the Adirondack Mountains tonight, where a huge snowfall is predicted for this weekend. Most of my extended family will be there as well, snowmobiling. I myself will be headed in another direction, snowshoeing along some old deer trails. I'm thinking it might be cool to bring the Tenth Mountain Division knife along for its intended purpose.

That sounds fun and peaceful. Have a great time.

Peaceful is a perfect way to describe it. After a large snowfall, it's as if the entire world becomes silent. You can walk for hours, with only the sound of your own breathing and movement to keep you company.

I'll give it a try. I usually use modern snowshoes, but maybe I'll break out my old pair of ash beavertails. I think they still have the cat gut lacing and leather bindings.
Those old leather bindings are a huge pita, after you’ve gotten used to modern snowshoes! I’m going out today in the White Mountains, where a lot of the 10th Mountain Division veterans were from, and came back to after the war.

I agree about the leather bindings. I'll take the easy on/off of my Tubbs Flex ALPs any day of the week. My beavertails are really long too, making turns while in the woods quite challenging.

I wish I were going to the White Mountians!!!! Have a ton of fun for me.

Thanks Buzz. I was on cross-country skis, because the conditions were perfect. My pal was on the new MSR snowshoes. Great winter weather, before the big storm! Have fun in the Adirondacks. We should get together up there sometime. I actually live in Western Mass. My knife today was still my Churchill, so this is not the right thread....

I've been extremely blessed in that the few knives I've collected that have some real "monetary" value, I've found at low "they don't know what they got" prices. Actually for me that's a big part of my fun in this hobby. I don't shop online, I like finding hidden treasures in pawn shops, antique stores, and a few Craigslist ads. But given that,I've only gotten one I've kinda put in "safe queen" category. I like using them to much
Edit: don't put off that wishful thought, that safe queen of mine is the 5 bladed Case stockman I got recently. From the few I've found for sale online, it normally goes for 4-5 times the $$ I paid:eek:

Great Knives and it’s great seeing you guys have those knives arrive.

Hope your break away is a great one Buzz, and thank you for the pm the other day.

When I look through my older Scouts ( I should have just said Scouts as all are old) often I go through very Carefully - wax them up as in Auckland New Zealand you have to be extremely careful with storing knives because of the humidity - and when doing so left amazed at these Knives.
The quality is outstanding- trying to decide whether Camillus, Challenge, Miller, Ulster - Schrade, New York Knife Co,Robeson, Remington, Kingston..... who made the best ? and as we know there can be variations within the brand,
But there is one Scout that doesn’t stand out above all the others because the competition is so so close - but this Robeson Bronzed Shielded Scout - the Perma Lube - Bronze bearing beauty.....
well trying to describe just how nice this knife is - one word could define the knife.... incredible.
Shown in detail in posts number 501 ( page 26 ).

Absolutely wonderful show of stunning knives guys- great viewing.
