You will probably want one of each. SnG's are sweet. There truthfully isn't a lot of difference in blade length between the two.

Both great knives!! Hard to choose between the two.

That blade size is a great debate. And I do really appreciate your feedback. I did indeed go ahead and order the 4" SMF too along with the 3.5" SnG. Because JR88FAN made one hell of a valid point about that choil.

I think you guys all make very valid points though. As it sounds like there are different strokes for different folks. And I really appreciate all the input.
So I'm very glad I ordered both sizes. I'll pick one out and share the pics right here back on this awesome thread. Can't wait to join the Strider party!

Good call on ordering both. Personally when I decided on a strider I wanted something a little bulkier, something I wouldn't be afraid to use for whatever I needed to. I was looking for a little tank. I got a 3/4 grind digicam sng and was so excited. In the end though I realized I wanted ffg and the sng felt a little small with the choil. So I went all in and got a cpm154 SMF and never looked back. Love the thing. However I now see why either a cc smf or sng would be nice for work/dress carry.

Pics when you get em!

Said I'd never buy another Strider but I wanted a tough Tanto so here I am.. :-) Got this one in S110V with no blade jimping and thinned the edge out on my edgepro to roughly 17dps but didn't like how the tip came out especially so I sent it to Josh at razor-edge-knives and he did a regrind on it taking the Primary down to 15dps w/a 20dps micro and then 0 ground the tip. Love it.

ALRIGHT!!!! This party has gone on far too long without me and I have finally decided to try to get in.

If the house is a rockin, don't bother knockin.. Right BluesBender??

So.. What we got here is a dilemma. Because this awesome thread literally sold me on getting a Strider (well this thread combined with JR88FAN's thread) I didn't know if I should get a Strider 3.5" SnG or an SMF in a 4" blade.

I ordered and got both sizes in and I think it boils down to hand size. I have XL or XXL hands (don't know which) and for me, the SMF fits waaaay better in my hand.

Here is what I got in today. Check this out. Oh my god, I love this stuff..

Look how darn pretty this SnG looks.

Here is the "little" SnG in my hand. You can see there isn't much room.. Not terrible, but I personally like a little more to grab on to.

Now here is the Big Daddy in my hand. Oh my god do I love this thing!!!!!

Here is the winner in my little competition of size comparison. This is the one that I will for sure be keeping.

Trying To Talk My Wife Into Keeping This Gem.. But we'll see.. Otherwise, it will be getting shipped back. :(

Turned my back for a second I think my new Strider tried to eat my office use CRK Mnandi!

Look at that BEEFY Blade.

Anyway, I am a major Microtech/Marfione fan, but I have to say.. Oh my f#ckin god, this Strider SMF is crazy!!
If my 2 Marfione Customs are BMW M3's with 450 HP, sleek beautiful and fast. This god forsaken Strider SMF is a Dodge Challenger Hellcat with 700 HP! It makes no apologies and appears to crush whatever is in front of it. It is a BEAST!!

I can't keep it out of my hands. I can't get enough of that sound when I flick it open with that massive, thick blade. Kurrr.. Thunk.

Thanks to everyone who posted pics in this thread. I now have a new knife that I adore thanks to you guys. And in a sick way, I can't wait to take it out and beat the f@ck outta this thing. It's like asking for it, you know?!!

NOW LET'S SEE SOME MORE STRIDER PICTURES!!!!

Just picked this up recently. Out of all the knives I have had the pleasure of owning ($1000+ customs), This has been the knife that has been the most comfortable to carry and hopefully use some day :p. Disappears in the pocket, yet feels full in the hand. Action is perfect, lock up is perfect, centering is perfect. Now I just need to find a SNG in more blade steels!

Pardon my ignorance but why are striders so expensive? I am new to the knife world.

I think the main reason is that Strider is a smaller company that makes the knives in batches rather than high level mass production like Kershaw or Buck. They have more "hands on" during their manufacturing and they make everything in-house. I truly believe they are worth the money but others may disagree.

And so as not to completely derail the thread -
