Let's see your Traditional Case knives, old to new.

They don't have blade wobble; however, they are not as solid as some of my other knives. I'm sure they are within spec of what Case produces; although, they are not as solid as my GECs or Queens. I was trying to figure out why that may be the case, not pun intended......

Best regards,
I'm not an expert but I can give my opinion.
The Case knives I own have a much weaker pull than GEC's , so the springs are not as strong and you don't get that snap like you do with a GEC.

Also the blades on Case knives are tumbled as part of the polishing process and the tangs are slightly rounded. So they are not square where they meet the backspring in the open position.
GEC's are perfectly flush. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but it gives the impression of not being as solid.

Best regards,
That's weird because usually my Case knives have a more solid lockup than my GEC knives.
I don't think I've ever had a locking GEC knife that didn't have some measure of lock rock.
But my Case knives are usually very solid. Which patterns of Case knives are you experiencing weaker lockup on?

Edit: Case went through about a four year period where their Quality Control was kind of crap. I wonder if you got some of those?

1970 ten dot red bone Copperhead, which snaps shut so hard you think it might shatter the bone. I have found that generally, the newer Case knives I have don't have as strong of a spring, but, I can appreciate the lesser tension when trying to open them, and they still snap shut with authority.

Not necessarily a fan of all the various patterns you post, but you certainly do have a good amount of quality bone covers. The bone on that Copperhead is beautiful IMHO. The peanuts aren't too shabby either.

Your probably right.

Got bored. Since I've been thinking and talking about the Tear Drops the last couple of days, did a few more shots to update the groups photos. Have to say I think I have a wonderful grouping of handle materials with these. :D
