Let's see your Traditional Case knives, old to new.

Here's an old Case, but new to me. The 6445R scout has been a constant companion for the last week.

Beautiful! Is the small blade with the thumb stud a can opener? Does the stud ride the rim of the can while the blade is levered up and down?

Yes, it's a can opener. But the stud is sort of a mystery to me. It's on the wrong side of the blade to ride the rim, assuming that you open the can from the right side. So I think it's possibly a thumb stud for opening? But I have no idea why they didn't just use a nail nick. The stud is actually quite difficult to use in opening the tool.

I should note that I haven't attempted to open a can with it yet. But since the edge is sharpened, I'm using the tool as a dedicated package opener, so I don't get adhesive all over the main blade.

Buzz, I see you have two of those beauties. The stud actually rides the rim of the can being opened but you pierce the lid and with the knife upside down you pry the opener up by leveraging the knife down. Easier done than said:o:o:o BEAUTIFUL knives:thumbup:

Sooooooo.......... Does it work well? LOL. It never would have occurred to me, to turn the knife upside down, in order to open the can.

Well, I'll say it works, how well? I'll say it works:D it really isn't bad but to me the SAK can opener is hard to beat in my opinion:thumbup: I love those CASE scout knives though:cool:

Thanks everyone, for the answers on the can opener. I assumed that's what the tool was, but was scratching my head over having to use it "backwards". Upside-down didn't cross my mind!

Got this beautiful 53087 from my 15 year old daughter for Christmas! Its in better shape then I am at 50+ years old...

What a beautiful collection of the Roger's Jigged bone offerings Harry. Those are the best effort Case has made in years for evenly dyed bone in an attractive color.

Wow Harry, I'm thrilled just to see them, I can only imagine how you must feel to own all eight. Fantastic collection, great color and jigging! I'm happy for you buddy!

Here are a couple of my Case knives. Including one Tony Bose collaboration.
