Let's talk about the latest Northwoods buying process

I tried to pick one that had some character but not to much, as that can get you into trouble with pictures and then when you get it ... yikes !
So went the conservative route with mine and well matched covers and not to knarly . Plus normally when you get it in hand you see more and the knife comes to life with character.
 
iPhone buyer as well, just received confirmation from KSF of me ending up getting with the two burlaps (green and red) checked out and by the time I finished that process, everything else was gone!
 
I think after looking at these I agree they look better with blade extended.
I figured out though, that the little stamped bolster is what looked “off”. To me a stamped bolster means Barlow.
I think if they had used an Arrowhead shield and an end cap, it would have looked better. But, everyone seems happy, so that’s good.
Not having to inset shields made this one easier on GEC.
Some of the mammoth slabs you guys have put up here look beautiful!

Couldn’t be happier! The bolster looks great to me and being on the 78 pattern with a clip is the frosting on the cake .
Of course I could be a little bias now that I scored a mammoth lol .
It was actually fun this time going to the races and trying to balance picking one but not taking to much time and falling in love with pictures . Then it getting snagged from you lol . It’s kind of like speed reading but instead it’s speed viewing :D

This must have been one of the only runs in the last half dozen or so that didn't include denim micarta huh?

I think a Northwoods in natural linen would have been so sweet! This pattern too

So true I pretty much say I’m going to pass every time and when the gates open I’m like a race horse chomping at the bit lol . I think I just try to talk myself out of it and never works .

I had no time to look at bolsters or I would of been looking at instead at check out “there’s nothing in your cart to buy “ Then I would say but it was such a nice bolster and so different from the others and then this :(

I just dislike the process. If you can see it, it should be available. If it goes in your cart, you should be able to buy it. This business of putting three different knives in your cart and not being able to buy any of them is nuts. Until they get that fixed, I'm out of it.

I agree and at least give you a time limit to check out like a few minutes .
I can see not having cart hording for hours but at least give a guy a few minutes to checkout . KSF said they are working on something so maybe it’s a new system .
 
I realized it's been a year of no new knives for me - last one was a #13 last March...

So i'm dipping my toes back in the water.
I went for easy pickins and have a Green Burlap on the way.
I really like the look of the clip on the 78 frame; however, the jury is still out on the 'bigger than a standard bolster and smaller than a barlow bolster'.
I'll see if it grows on me.

There was 3 or 4 pages that sold out in minutes . You have to be ready the second they are released or you will leave empty handed in seconds.

I felt the same exact way as you the first few times when I left empty handed after multiple times .
But then victory took over and I felt much better :D
