I'd honestly be happy with either. I only have one #74 and it is the Stallion with the Clip and dressed up in Ebony. That said, if Mustang means Drop Point - then it looks like Mustangs are what we are getting. That's pretty exciting.
Just received my first mudbug in the mail. I like it very much, very well built, smooth action, good lockup, all the important things done right.
That last batch of 74s were Mustangs in late December '16, and the Stallions came right after in January '17. I wouldn't mind having the drop point - I never did grab a Mustang when they were available. Also wouldn't mind if they ran both o' dem horsies again as before.
Very cool. I've always liked the idea of the Mudbugs but haven't ever been able to pick one up. For a bit there, S&S was requiring folks to buy the leather sheath with the knife and I simply wasn't into that. Those releases were right around the time I joined up here and I was most definitely a "fish out of water" when it came to GECs. I am thrilled that they are doing these again - icing on the cake if they repeat themselves.
I get that, I meant how can one tell whether they're for a 74 or 47, but the captions weren't showing up on my laptop so I didn't see that they said they were for a 74 Mustang. It looks like they've been moved to the correct photos now, anyway. Don't they usually run Tidioutes first, and Northfields after?
It's a teaser pic - it gets us all abuzz with what's coming up. It isn't indicative of their build order though.
Excited for the 74s, I’ve passed on a lot of GECs recent runs. I will for sure add a couple of 74s to my collection this year!
Thanks. I slept on them last time, I'm glad i was awake this time. Thanks. I'm glad they stopped doing that, the sheath adds a bit to the price. I'll keep my fingers crossed then.
Good point. I'm looking forward to seeing the cover materials they go with for these. And a drop point is fine with me, it's neck and neck with a clip point for my favorite blade shape, and seems relatively uncommon in GEC offerings, at least from looking through the website.
I wasn't sure if I was going to try to get a mudbug or not, and when I checked the website after the drop the only ones it would let me add to the cart were with a sheath included. Well, that made my mind up and I didn't get one. Between the already higher price, and then the additional cost of a sheath, I didn't feel it was worth it (to me). I do enjoy seeing the pics from those of you that did get them, though, it's definitely a great and functional looking knife!
I really like my Mudbug I just got in a trade. Been using the sheath too. Let's me carry extra knives in the pockets...
@btb01 @Half/Stop The two blade hayin helper is my Mr. Dirty. When coveralls go on, this is the one that gets tethered to those side buttons. This guy does garden and farm work. Carpentry razor work, whatever you throw at it. It cuts expandable foam and sanded clean later. When running a chainsaw all day, this guy is mixed with a pocket of chips. Old Mr. Dirty is a workhorse of an all around knife. Trust me.
