Lets talk GEC!

Half/Stop Half/Stop

The two blade hayin helper is my Mr. Dirty. When coveralls go on, this is the one that gets tethered to those side buttons. This guy does garden and farm work. Carpentry razor work, whatever you throw at it. It cuts expandable foam and sanded clean later. When running a chainsaw all day, this guy is mixed with a pocket of chips. Old Mr. Dirty is a workhorse of an all around knife. Trust me.

Great looking work knife.

Youll be fine :D all retailers still have them. It's like the 06 templar in acrylic, couldnt give those away

and yet I keep looking at one, tempting myself with it, deciding against... wait a week, rinse and repeat. I think it’s the clip on the pemberton that gets me interested and the thin, non-contoured handles that turn me away.

That’s a true working knife Josh! Is that one O1 or 1095? The one I had Glenn turn into my Northfield “Biscuit” was an Orange Delrin O1 single blade. I have an OD 1095 single blade that is a great go to worker. I will freely admit that a large Lambsfoot sees most of my rough work, as you described, with a good sheepfoot a close second! :)

This was from the second run in 2016, so I'm pretty sure its carbon and not O1. For versatility and never knowing what work its actually going to be doing, the 2 blade is gr8. A little more handle to hold onto and that long slender pen blade comes in real handy when you run across something the sheep can't do.

Please do tell the story behind the "Biscuit" moniker for that beautiful knife you have there.

no rush there, plenty of 06 templars to spare at almost every dealer

I just took one off the market for ya :) The clip did it it for me, I'll get to check it out, fondle and admire, then tuck it away for a Christmas gift for the wife ;)

Glad to tell the story Josh! :) Here you go my friend! Tell Samuel and Thomas I said hello! :D

If it is going to be a #74...
I'm hoping for a Stallion with a Clip Point blade rather than a Mustang with a Drop Point blade.
If it has a Drop Point, I'll probably pass as it will be too much like my beloved #73.

I'd honestly be happy with either. I only have one #74 and it is the Stallion with the Clip and dressed up in Ebony.

That said, if Mustang means Drop Point - then it looks like Mustangs are what we are getting. That's pretty exciting.

That last batch of 74s were Mustangs in late December '16, and the Stallions came right after in January '17. I wouldn't mind having the drop point - I never did grab a Mustang when they were available. Also wouldn't mind if they ran both o' dem horsies again as before. :p:D

I'm hoping to get in on a 74, Mustang or Stallion will do

The 74s are one of my favorite patterns. I have the Mustang and the Stallion, but I wish they would do the Zulu spear on a 74 now that Northwoods SFOs will be gone.

Great story. Sam and Thomas say hello. I miss Bob and that smiling avatar baby face.... Here is my "Biscuit". I bought it toward the end when he was putting groups of knives on the exchange. When I pick this one up, I can't help but think about him grinding away to make this "Biscuit".

Same here. :) I like them and have both the the red and green. trying my best to find a pin to go with them.

I get that, I meant how can one tell whether they're for a 74 or 47, but the captions weren't showing up on my laptop so I didn't see that they said they were for a 74 Mustang. It looks like they've been moved to the correct photos now, anyway. Don't they usually run Tidioutes first, and Northfields after?

Gotcha, sorry I misunderstood. I don't think there's any way to tell from a pic between the two - but I've fumbled both of my posts in this thread today so...

No worries, it's understandable to not think I was asking how to tell they're for a 74 when it says it right in the caption!

I have one and it's a love/hate relationship.
I love the size. the blade, and the Templar bolsters and end caps.
On the other hand, I absolutely hate the acrylic they chose... it's ugly.

same, once upon time they did 48 in templars and I had one for a little bit. Tried as I did to love it, but its just not the same as the good ole big clip 48s

When it comes to the #48 Templar knives, I love love love everything about mine.
It helps that it has Black Linen Micarta handles, it really makes the Door Hinge bolsters/caps 'pop'.:thumbsup:

I'm not the biggest Templar fan, but have to say that this is a gorgeous knife.

The Templar look has grown on me. It’s like a shadow pattern with a flourish. Like a shadow pattern, one of the strengths is the amount of space it has for interesting covers.

I think a successful Templar would have wood covers. I think the barn door hinge style bolsters would look right in place.

One possible problem might be the strength of the cover material, since the bolsters make it integral to the sturdiness of the knife, but I think slightly thicker liners could make up for that.
