Lets talk GEC!

When it comes to the #48 Templar knives, I love love love everything about mine.
It helps that it has Black Linen Micarta handles, it really makes the Door Hinge bolsters/caps 'pop'.:thumbsup:

that is indeed a nicer than the example I had in either the stained glass acrylic and maybe green and black acrylic. Neither stayed long because I am very partial to the larger clip.

I'd like to see that too.
Apparently Case did some in wood... not my picture.

That’s gorgeous! Very pleasing to the eye. If case could do it, you bet Mr. Howard could. Remember when case made excellent knives? I sure do. If they started making them with the quality of GEC at that price point I would go back to them. Until then, I just can’t be bothered to check

Until then, GEC’s got my full attention.

I jumped on the 06 Templars mostly because I just like the clip blades so much. They seem to be well made and sturdy enough, although my magnet tells me the hinge bolsters and liners are nickel silver and not steel. Kinda like the looks, too.

I think the Case Classics were actually produced by Queen for Case. Yes, can you believe......And I think the Case you are showing, is one of the Case Classics. But I'm sure more educated members will chime in.
And who was in charge of Queen's SFOs? Not for certain, but perhaps Mr. Howard......

Thank you, I sure do like it. :)

So true. :D

I do... My Case knives made in the 70's are some of my best.

Hmmm... all good points.
Looks like Bill has made these for a while, perhaps we will see wood ones in the future.:thumbsup:

All roads lead back to Bill Howard.
Lol... :D:thumbsup:

Great story. Sam and Thomas say hello. I miss Bob and that smiling avatar baby face.... Here is my "Biscuit". I bought it toward the end when he was putting groups of knives on the exchange. When I pick this one up, I can't help but think about him grinding away to make this "Biscuit".

Bob was a good friend! We became pretty close through the years. We always talked a couple of times a week. I miss that smiling avatar baby face a lot, but I miss a good friend even more! I’ve got several knives that came from Bob. Either as a gift or purchases. This #47 was the only one I had that had been modded by Bob! With the exception of a couple with the etches removed. Bob always despised etches! I wouldn’t part with any of them. That #48 is modded from a long Spey blade to a long coping blade. I think a very useful mod. :)

Good thing that one went to you Ron, Bob knew id likely have it removed for more single blade 48s :D:eek:

Mostly Correct. Not for Case; for PKCS (Jim Parker). All but 2-3 patterns (saddlehorn, 88 congress, and gunboat come to mind). FYI, the pictured knife is an acrylic that looks like wood (I'm fairly sure).

Just received my first mudbug in the mail.
I like it very much, very well built, smooth action, good lockup, all the important things done right.
I got mine on Monday, I love the chamfered edges on these, I think they’ve always been rounded before.

I did not know that.:thumbsup:

Yeah, I had one before but didn’t like the color it was a natural linen but mustard colored. Shortly after I got this one I started looking up pics of old ones because it seemed different and I couldn’t find a single one like this. I think it gives it a really clean look.

Speaking of the Mudbug...
The more I handle the big Mudbug, the more convinced i am that they need to build the smaller #71 model Bullnose with a lockback and thinner handle slabs. It would be such a great all-around knife and I'm sure it would sell out quickly. I'm honestly very surprised that it hasn't been built yet.

I agree. I love mine but a half inch shorter (closed) and it may never leave my pocket

Yeah, I was halfway through writing the same post a few days back. It’s such a great idea that I wondered if there was a commercial reason not to make that knife, associated with the SFO deal they had with Smith and Sons? Just speculation of course.

I don’t know about the bullnose/buster to compare them to this mudbug but I really like it. I’d for sure buy a slightly smaller version.
