Lets talk GEC!

So I hadn't been receiving replies to emails that I had sent to GEC recently, which seemed unusual being that previously they had replied extremely promptly. It turns out that I think their replies had been filtered by my email to a spam folder. So if anyone else is having similar issues, check your spam.

Still looking forward to WIP pictures of the #63 Mako.

I am sure someone else has already thought of this, but wouldn't it be cool to see a GEC made tribute folder to the Buck 300 series? GEC with a long pull, delrin scales, similar badge. Thoughts?

I have to say, I'm not very excited about the new #54's coming out of the factory. I wasn't going to add any more to the stable but after looking at the Northwoods, I fell in love.... this frame is outstanding with a single blade. If GEC made a Northfield single clip or spear, I'd be all over it. Here it is in blue camel bone which didn't take the blue very well.

Yea that didn't take the dye well.... You should send that to me, no need to worry yourself with it.;)

I actually like the covers that don't take the dye completely.

^^^ It might be on the lighter side of blue, but the coloring it does have looks really nice.

She's a beauty isn't she?! I chose it precisely for the lack of dye. There was one other available like this, but not quite as pale.

akula83- I actually had to go back and check the edge. I'm so used to GEC being dull, I don't really check immediately..... I reprofile all my users. Anyway.... it's definitely not shaving, but the edge is even.

My Forest Jack came shaving sharp and the tip is very aggressive. The pull on this one is really strong, at least an 8 I'd say, but I like it cuz I can easily pinch it open. Nice snappy, walk and talk. Great knife!

Thanks for the reply draggat, probably the same as my hawthorn then. I have not had luck sharpening the edge's on my GEC's, so they get sent to the pro's.....just curious.

I just picked up a #15 Crown Lifter in "antique Yellow" jig bone. Very nice knife, but the dye seems to be bleeding out. I washed it, using dish soap, and noticed the water in the sink was a yellow/ brown color, and my hands have a bit of a jaundiced tint from holding it. Anyone else experience color bleeding?

Ironically, I commented about these as they came through the line and then waited.. while the red linen (my favorite) disappeared. Happily enough, I love the one I got. Yes, the tip is very stout and pointy as hell.... as are all GEC's. As these were coming out I was focused on these:

akula83 - I'm no pro at sharpening, but 1095 is pretty easy to manage. I suggest you pick up a sharpmaker by the round hole brand. You won't be dissapointed!

Anybody see the Northwoods #44 pictures they just put up? Is that a centercut mammoth ivory long pull Spearpoint Madison Barlow in the works?! I emailed KSF and Tyler said he didn't have any info yet other than rumored for January sometime.
