Lets talk GEC!

I got my Black Plum #47 in the mail today. I happened to be carrying my Black Plum #74 at the time, so I used it to open the package and got a quick photo of the pair.

Texoma Texoma Jeff put up an excellent pic (that's a bonny stainless Owl ) and beat me to it because it's 2021 here already in Europe (parts) :D Here's another for you, I didn't have an Owl & Churchill but a Red Rust Owl and Forum Knife 16 which is the 35 frame but Spear/Punch. As we know, .5cm or 1/4 " can make a lot of difference to the feel & carry of a knife. the 35 is noticeably burlier, broader and heavier, but the White Owl still offers a very decent blade length in a smaller frame. CANNOT understand why GEC hasn't done another run of these?? New Year's wish

I could get really excited for White Owls, Pony Jacks, and 66 Jacks (either flavor).

Otherwise I am hoping for some cool new patterns this year.

I'd really only like to add 6 or 8 knives to my collection this year (3 or 4 of which will be non GECs) so I'm going to try to be picky. I guess if GECs production totals stay where they've been recently I'll be lucky to get a few of them.

I've been staying away from GEC knives since Summer.
But there are a few patterns that could get me excited enough to re-enter the game.
Among them; a nice #15, a #73, a stainless White Owl or Pony Jack would be amazing, and a slip joint Tuscosa.

I have vowed to stay away from all future GEC releases several times, after many unsuccessful and frustrating attempts to secure one during the drops. But then I find myself doing the same lolliscramble all over again when something piques my interest. I have no need for any more knives, so I guess it's just the thrill of finally getting one I like that keeps it interesting.

I have managed to get the two 47s I most wanted so far, so I have probably exceeded my quota of luck for a while, but I may try for a stag anyway when they start dropping.

All that to say, there aren't too many patterns I feel like I'd have to have anymore, but a 68 White Owl is definitely one of them! And a 15 with a lambsfoot blade would be another!

I should have added 15s to my list and a 15 Lambfoot would be phenomenal!

I think you should lace up your shoes, you might be going in the game soon. ;). But then again you never know.

I was really excited about the new release of 33s in 2020 having missed them the first go around. I don’t buy many knives so I had no idea buying a GEC had become such a frenzy. Like many others, I missed out. The rat race excites some but discourages others. I guess I fall in the ladder group. I do enjoy seeing all the great ones posted here, that’s likely my only GEC experience going forward. No hard feelings on my part, GEC makes a fantastic knife, I’m just not up to the challenge.
