Lets talk GEC!

That would be an interesting design direction. Out of all of the old catalogs that I have perused that feature the large swell center jack (or coke bottle), I haven't seen any that would qualify as a sort of Barlow, nor have I seen any originals.

That said, S&M made one with a neat bolster stamp and though it has an end cap, it would be a passable looking daddy barlow. If GEC ever endeavors to make the #97 again, I would love to see them do a bare head version. Otherwise, I am still holding out for a medium coke bottle jack - that would be pretty swell (pun kind of intended :D).

Criminy, an Ironwood, or even Cocobolo barehead #97? Lordamercy.

That curved barlow idea is sweet looking! I love the looks of the Madison but thats pretty much unobtainium for me lol. Noting how similar certain patterns are, if you round the pivot end of a 23 a bit,and remove the hump in the middle of the handle, its dang near identical to the 21in frame.

:D

You have a lot of knives and satisfyingly, they seem to get a lot of real use.:cool: It is of course what they're for, rather than the angst of the pristine chapel keepers ;):D

What Dylan said. :thumbsup:

Here are some photos, ‘cause why not? :D

I keep hoping they’ll do a curved Barlow some day. Maybe on the #74 pattern? :D

For the sake of consistency, here’s the non-Barlow #74 (which is the same knife :D).

They have made the Madison Barlow for Northwoods. This is an odd one, because Northwoods don’t use GEC’s pattern numbers. Some of them are obvious (and often released at the same time as standard GEC runs of the same pattern), but these were made starting back in 2014 (don’t quote me on that ;)) and, at least back then, had no GEC pattern equivalent. I found a 2016 Instagram post from GEC’s account that referred to it as the “44 Pattern Northwoods Madison Barlow,” but GEC has since made the #44, which is a gunstock pattern and obviously isn’t the same as the Madison.

While I haven’t been able to find any concrete confirmation, I think the #43 Oregon Trapper that GEC first made in 2018 is the same pattern as the Northwoods Madison Barlow. I only have one of each, but they are almost identical in size/shape.

Great post, Barrett!!:thumbsup::cool:

I miss SFO's. I always assumed that when it felt like a delay in the production schedule update that it might be related to ironing out a detail on an SFO. Anyway, just wishful thinking for the return of SFO's this upcoming year.

Yes!... Learning there was a SFO around the corner was exciting!.... Everyone was like a kid in a candy store with a dollar to spend.... I miss SFO's very much....

Maybe with the new year well get a decent amount of info? Its nice when they put out a couple knives in a row for a schedule so we can plan our spending.
