Lets talk GEC!

The only #42 I own has a bit of vertical play but ever so slightly. Most wouldn't even notice it.

I have many 42's and about all I can say is "it depends". I have some that are drum tight and some with a little vertical play and just one with a little horizontal. Recent runs have been more solid from my experience with my 2014's all being solid.
Hmm now I don't know cause I was wanting one to carry. I have a #25 and an #81 and they are rock solid but was wanting a single blade lockback. Thanks for info!

Like I mentioned in the edc thread. The only GEC I have returned due to manufacturing flaws was an Esquire. Mine was stag handled with the coined liners. I wanted to love this knife but the main blade was so krinked it was ridiculous. I have other single spring, two blade knives from them and none of the blades are krinked, they are step ground to one side and I love this construction. I may have had a lemon and hope to pick up another some day. Anyone else have this issue? I was also not happy with how light the snap and pull was with this little model. I have grown accustomed to GEC's hardy walk and talk and prefer it. I would have almost called that one lazy!

I did like the coining but could live without it. The ebony and bone Tidioutes have been catching my attention again lately.

Heres a pic of the one I shipped back

yeah, one of the single blade #73Ls I had had a similar bias, perfectly centred when closed, but completely crooked when open, I couldn't work out how that could be.

The 99 Northfield Stag arrived this afternoon.

Swift delivery for this time of year and the knife is a wonder, impressive stag and really nice pull/lock-up with no question of play whatsoever. A tangible improvement on the 72s I had which I found very much wanting in construction quality compared to most other lockbacks. This model can hold its head up high amongst the best i.e. Moki.

That is amazing. I would have totally sent that back, I may have even drove and delivered it myself.

Thanks Perry, most kind.

It's a really superbly made knife, Stag is of course very personal but it's the way I like it, really happy. See if a picture or two is possible in the morrow.

Great Will, stag can be dicey sometimes so glad to hear yours is to your liking! Bring on them pics!

The light's dreadful today, rain, mist but got a pic or two.

The stag is thin panel yet has this deep chasm in the middle and is a rich amber colour. I like it a lot!:D

Many thanks everybody, I'm so pleased with it.

Fact is, they put out some boss stag on this pattern and there are other examples about including Clip and Wharncliffe versions. The dealer I got it from has some top stuff.

Regards, Will

Great looking stag, Will! :)

That makes a wonderful knife, my friend! Congratulations on this beautiful companion.

Servus Andi! Many thanks but you inspired me on this one:thumbup::thumbup: Got here pretty quick too...
