Lets talk GEC!

I'd love to see some comparison shots showing how thick that thing is when you get it. Looks like it's going to be a beast.

I have one coming as of last night. This is my only concern: How "beastie" will it be? I love the #25 (WLST© ~P) which is quite a beast itself. A little beast it is. I had been looking for one of the #25's in blue (denim?) thought I had one, and it turned out to not exist in that dealer's inventory. Simultaneously, the blue camel covers appeared on GEC's website. Wow! :love_heart:

I don't have a single blade #44 to compare it to. But I will be able to let you know how it feels to carry. :D

Got this one on the way (not my pic). The Northwoods knives with Blue Camel Bone are great looking. One of these days I am going to get lucky and see a Fremont Jack in the for sale section before somebody else snaps it up in seconds.

I got to hold one of these during the tour. Though not totally finished, it had both blades installed so I think I got a feel for the size. It's definitely a good bit thicker than most, but I was very impressed by how it felt in hand (especially having those two big blades). If you've ever held one of the two bladed Case large hunters, it's similar to that.

I love yours, cutchu! Here is mine, courtesy of KSF, pile side on this one. :D I can hardly wait to look at it and put it in my pocket.

Which other GEC knives use nickel silver liners? I've only heard of brass and steel.... all my users currently have brass liners.

A run of SS/GEC brand Easy Pocket Congress. The BFC 2011 forum knife. The Northfield 09 Esquires, with scalloped NS liners. Those are the only ones I remember but I am sure there are more.

Thanks Sonnemann. Now that I think about it, I do recall reading that the Esquire has NS liners.

Now for another question!

Apparently the seafoam acrylic isn't going to work out for the #63 so it's been changed to 'shark attack' acrylic, which was used on a rendezvous knife last year. Anyone know what it looks like or know where a picture of it is?

The new blackwater color looks fantastic!

I figured we could use some more photos here......

I was finally able to score an exact knife shown in GEC's catalog. I'm really looking forward to the #63.... very similar to the #64.

Perry, I must say, you look good in gold. :D

Those are all beautiful knives! Glad you were able to finally score a catalog one too.
Perry

Thanks Perry! I was beginning to wonder if they actually sold the pictured knives.

They've been known to. ;)

Thanks to everyone who keeps this thread alive, and presents #25s for us all to enjoy.

Reason #436 why it's rewarding to share one's knives with others, for their observations and appreciation:

I've had this knife for almost a year, a snakewood barlow that was the "poster child" for this particular cover within the run (serial number 02).

I've photographed and handled it often, and would have said I 'knew' the knife.

This past week end, I had the pleasure of meeting RobbW and showing him the knives I'd brought along, this #25 included.

Within moments, he spotted and asked about the "25" on the cover-- within the grain of the wood.

Hunh?

Take a look, to the right of the lower pin in this picture:

See it? I hadn't.

Now I can't not see it.

Kewl.

(Thanks, Robb!)

(It was a thrill to discover this particular knife available, for All Reasons, but its status as Poster Child makes the find sweeter yet.)

Great selection, draggat, and congratulations on your own Poster Child. :)

That 25 really is a special find! These poster children really are the jewels of a collection. It's always a pleasure to share with others who appreciate such things.

Thanks P. From what I've seen around here, you have a pretty outstanding collection as well.

Thanks, ALLHSS, for the feedback as I await the arrival of mine. Somehow I missed your comment! Lucky you to get that tour. I read your comments, and it sounded wonderful. :D

Hi ~P! I will be posting over in your #25 thread sometime in the next couple of weeks. It's been a little inactive lately, and it can sure use some new pictures. I'm really excited, can you tell?
And....ta da! I've found some 25's, several, in fact. I'm having a "special birthday" and these are my gifts to me. :barbershop_quartet_

Anybody else who has a 13 year old child who doesn't even bother to make her momma a card can follow my example: "See honey? This is what happens when you don't make Mommy a card for her birthday. She spends all our money on her own presents! You wanted to ski this weekend? Oh! I'm so sorry! I just spent that money on my new knife.." :D

I thought I'd use your "barbershop quartet" smiley because I have at least four WSLT coming to live at my house soon. But it might be more than a quartet...:D

Only one was a really, ahem, bank-breaking stupid purchase, but I think I'm really going to love it.

Well thank you Sarah! It's really something to score a poster knife. I figured that most of these prized examples wound up in the showcase at GEC. You and Draggat are two very fortunate knifers indeed!:thumbup:

Y'know, you kinda keep saying that. I'm starting to think y'all are just a tease. :p

Too funny! I can't wait to see what you're so excited about. Meanwhile, I've just updated the #25s thread my own self, due to a happy addition from Last Rodeo.

I know - I've been a terrible tease! :o

Haven't meant to be, but it's been so darn cold here, down to zero Fahrenheit, then a moment or two above freezing, just long enough to haul in masses of firewood and fix my antenna lead into the house. Excuses, excuses! But it's bound to warm up a bit so my camera lens doesn't frost over. Or, if the sun comes out properly I will see if I can get decent indoor pictures. :)

I don't know about everyone else, but I think those makos coming off the line are looking really nice! Love them in stag!

GEC-ILLUSTRATED1-20.png

I will completely agree! I think the stag Mako is the one to go for. So much more knife than the older Imperial fish knives of yesteryear! If I didn't already have so much other knives in the works I would be all over one of these. After I got it in, I would go for some potassium permanganate and darken it up a bit too!
