Flippers would just sell them at higher prices if the MSRP doubled. Focusing on establishing a relationship with a certified dealer will do you a lot more good than wishing for higher prices. Lets not get crazy here.I also got the email and saw they were gone within minutes.
I’m very interested in GEC, but have become completely turned off by this distribution model. It’s become an arcade game for flippers and hardcore collectors.
Maybe this is GECs goal. Not to maximize profit, not to allow customers to acquire their product. But only to create a rare collectible or some weird web-based game.
If they have any interest in allowing “normal” people to buy their products, they’d double the price and give normal people a chance.

you can probably just go back a few pages and re-read all the arguments and complaints. Should not be very hard to find. I wish you nothing but luck on your quest to aquire GEC knives. PM me if you want some helpful info. I can help you, but i dont care to argue about GEC's business model (95% of their knives are sold instantly - pretty good model if you ask me). That’s the opposite of how a free market model works (and flippers in that model).

Who are these "normal" people that doubling the price on something makes it more likely they will buy it? Sounds like you want GECs priced so high that only people of a higher than average income can afford to buy them.
Do you honestly believe this or are you just kvetching online because you didn't get what you want?

1. People really dont use the word kvetch enough anymore.
2. Stop stealing photos for your avatar.
Me too... they need to open the barber shops.I do need a haircut.
I tend to agree with this, and I'm very surprised that GEC leaves so much potential profit on the table. At $150, a new GEC drop would still sell out within hours or days.

PM me and i can help you. Your assumption is incorrect. "establishing a relationship" does not mean buying. It means calling and talking to them. They all want your business, but they are not going to seek you out. GEC has a list of authorized dealers on their website. If you want their knives, you should pay close attention to the production schedule and establish contact with several dealers. Start at the top of the list and work your way down. It does not take as much time as some people spend on here complaining.Establishing the relationship with a dealer is the tough part. When you cannot even buy the product in the first place unless you are lucky with a drop, there is no purchase history/relationship that can be established. I'm not really interested in products outside of GEC stuff at most of the dealers.
That's all assuming that most dealers base the relationships on past money spent with them.
