Lets talk GEC!

Thats fair, I just always assumed they did something kind of special for these knives.

Well, past Rendezvous knives have been variants of knives released that year, so this knife has precedent. Sometimes covers are changed, though not always. Usually a different shield, at a minimum.

Yea I'm aware its a pattern from that year, but the exact same color jigged bone? Its odd they wouldnt even drop it in a different dye?

I don't imagine that going to the Rendezvous is all about picking up rare knives, at least not for all.
As long as you are fortunate enough to go, talk to fellow Porch members, and enjoy the experience... that's what's most important.

I totally get that, and I'm sure lots of people are having a lovely experience.

Spot on :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Not my pic, I take no credit:

Just because the etch fits on the blade doesn't necessarily mean it should be on the blade. It's over sized and gaudy.

In addition to the Rendezvous knives there were a number of SFAs in 33, 62, 15, 86, etc. Since I was so late and didn’t get there until 5:15AM most of the SFAs were also gone- I did get a nice white/black acrylic 33 and a standard 15 in Cocobolo. I also got a Churchill from a gent that was selling knives outside. Met a couple of nice folks (including J jsdistin and knifeswapper knifeswapper ) but I only hung around until about 9:30. I’ll definitely be back next year but I’m still not sure I’m up for spending the night on the sidewalk. Pics later of my booty.

Anyone else suffering from poll withdrawal?
I think I will wait until the Rendezvous is over with, so no-one will miss the Poll on color!!
But here are some sample choices, open to suggestions: comments please!!
- Black Cherry (not likely to be pink!! Eew!!)
- undyed (white)
- ivory bone
- Dark Green (mentioned often - hides verdigris)
- Brown (??)
- Red
- blue
- purple
- copperhead
- other??

I really liked the deep blue sawcut my Ocoee jack had, shame it had such a light snap. I also like the idea of blue as a nod to Bladeforums, as others have mentioned in the poll comments.
I still believe ivory would make a fine cover color choice as well.
So I guess those are the two that jump out at me and I’ll probably hold my vote and place it strategically.

Can you please have three or four different reds, so we can split the vote and not end up with a pink knife? Maybe:
Red
Dark Red
Light Red
Bright Red
Brick Red
Good Red
Bad Red
The Big Red One
Clifford the Big Red Dog
Crimson
Scarlet
Vermillion
Ruby

Thanks, Charlie.

I met some great folks as well including mrknife mrknife and of course AnW AnW . Looked at and talked about some great knives. It’s definitely a fun time. I was hoping for a little more going on in the shop than there was but it’s certainly understandable that there wasn’t you could watch most of the finishing steps though that were going on on the 2nd/main floor. If I were less tired or staying overnight I would definitely stay longer probably stay for the second day and the picnic as well. I think people should at least try to go once. The two 86 sfa’s were sold out until tomorrow unfortunately so I got the 33 that AnW mentioned and a 62 sofa as well. I picked up a blade key also. At one of the tables outside I got a micarta 86 before I left. Both the sfa’s are northfield but the 62 has a tidioute tube for some reason. Not sure if they all did or not but it is what she grabbed it out of so I don’t think there was a mix up at least not at the counter. My drive was only 2 1/2 hours so I’ve got pics.
