I think I will wait until the Rendezvous is over with, so no-one will miss the Poll on color!!
But here are some sample choices, open to suggestions: comments please!!
- Black Cherry (not likely to be pink!! Eew!!)
- undyed (white)
- ivory bone
- Dark Green (mentioned often - hides verdigris)
- Brown (??)
- Red
- blue
- purple
- copperhead
- other??
Not at all interested in blue, purple or dark green. I think the traditional or natural colors would be best on this knife. Black cherry does look good though.

I met some great folks as well including @mrknife and of course @AnW. Looked at and talked about some great knives. It’s definitely a fun time. I was hoping for a little more going on in the shop than there was but it’s certainly understandable that there wasn’t you could watch most of the finishing steps though that were going on on the 2nd/main floor. If I were less tired or staying overnight I would definitely stay longer probably stay for the second day and the picnic as well. I think people should at least try to go once. The two 86 sfa’s were sold out until tomorrow unfortunately so I got the 33 that AnW mentioned and a 62 sofa as well. I picked up a blade key also. At one of the tables outside I got a micarta 86 before I left. Both the sfa’s are northfield but the 62 has a tidioute tube for some reason. Not sure if they all did or not but it is what she grabbed it out of so I don’t think there was a mix up at least not at the counter. My drive was only 2 1/2 hours so I’ve got pics.

So are they stamped 2020 because they had been SFA's for last years Rendezvous that did not happen?

To be honest, I don’t know, but I don’t think so. I think there were also ones that had 2019 and 2021 etches on them so my guess is actually just the year the blades were stamped. If someone has ones with an etch that doesn’t match the blade stamp that might clear things up, but the ones I saw seemed to match up. Also my impression and I can’t remember if I called or emailed last year was that they make them right before the rendezvous and did not make any last year since it was canceled. If someone has better info I’d go with that. Like Jiki for instance.

Quick question to all you good knowledgeable folks here: On of my newer GEC knives (hint - my avatar) has started to show a slight up-down play when in half-stop position. I have carried and used it almost every day since I got it about a month ago but still I'm a bit surprised by this. Should I expect some play when it is fully open and can I do anything to prevent/fix it?

waynorth waynorth I still like Antique Yellow
I like that buttery yellow at the bolsters and along the edges, combined with that deep dark brown.
GEC also called this "Antique Yellow" so you never really know what you're gonna get.

I very much want white/ivory, and don't care for reds that fade into pink. Fading into yellow is kinda cool, but seems a little busy for a Barlow.

I don’t think GEC has ever done sawcut in a natural or ivory bone so that might be a cool choice and special knife. I’m really on the fence on color choice. I thought copperhead at first. I love dark green like the 2016 77 barlows. But right now that black cherry is sounding pretty good.

I shamelessly lifted some pictures from the internet to post up here. Will do it in a couple posts to make it not such a giant post.

Ivory/white/undyed is so hard to find any pictures being sawcut. It seems to be rare and this may be out only chance to have such a knife. Heres some pictures of it as smooth which most know what it looks like-

Sorry about any blurriness and also whosever pictures ive lifted, thanks to your contribution.

Since people shy away from white/undyed due to the hardware and it being sawcut, heres a few other ideas which are close

This white soup bone would be amazing!

Heres a couple shots of sepia which would be still light and adds some light brown to it. I really dig the second picture.
