Lets talk GEC!

Did you have a paid membership that just expired?
That's a good question. I didn't get any sort of notice that my subscription was about to expire or had expired. I'll see if I can't navigate to where I might find that info. Thank you!

And what a great picture it is... love it! 🤠

I had the same issue. My pictures from my phone are now too large to post directly. I had to take a screen shot of the picture to reduce the size of the picture and that allowed me to post the photo. Not ideal but works until I figure out a better way.
You should be able to just select the size of the image when you upload…you will see “actual” which is often too big, then large, medium, and small. Large works for me.

Not a GEC question, but I’m trying to post some GEC pics! Up until today, I was able to resize pics and directly load them from my photo album on my device. Today, I can only insert a URL from a host ( I use Imgur). Am I missing something or has it been changed to just URLs and Jiki Jiki didn‘t notify me?

I don’t know if this will solve the one problem but you can choose the file size of the image while you are selecting it from the album. Actual size is usually too large but large will almost always work.

I can post full size images by using the imgur app. Get the app, sign up for an account, and upload some pictures (I upload them as hidden rather than public so only people with the direct image link can see then). Then, after you uploaded a pic, click on VIEW and then if you're on an android phone (not sure the iphone method), long press on the image until a menu pops up like shown below. Click on Copy URL to get the direct image link.

Then on Bladeforums you can paste the direct image link as shown below to post your full size image.

I agree with Ed @Modoc ED I've had good success treating my knives like I would a gun, rem oil and seal clp 1 are a couple I've used and I don't put then in bags
I agree with all. Any oil or lube that has worked for you is what you should stick with. I guess the only reason I buy into mineral oil is there were 2 prominent makers I used to have in depth conversations with, that told me that's all you need.

Those 2 gentlemen were Bob Dozier and Tony Bose. That was probably 10 yrs. ago, and lubricants have come a long way since then.

Agree, what works for any individual stay with it, to me handling, climate and storage are key factors not just the oil.
I've used mineral oil for storage in the past and I still use it to flush knives and after I use a knife in the shop or field.
I also store my expensive or special collector items in pelican cases like I do my handguns and I think that helps.

My wife actually chose this last night as her favorite of my collection. She has good taste.
Sounds like she needs a matching knife. Don’t think I didn’t spot those “his and hers” pool noodles in the back ground.

Any predictions on what patterns are coming up? I would imagine 86 barlows must be coming soon…
I think something else before the 86s. However the crystal ball has been very hazy lately, so there is no telling.
