Lets talk GEC!

they will be made available to all members in good standing, who pre-order them. There are eligibility requirements, posted at the beginning of this 3 or 4 part thread on the knife selection.

Orders have not been taken yet. There will be a thread started when that process is ready to begin. Watch for it as a "sticky" at the top of this forum.

we were all newbies at one point or another..... welcome to the forum.
Thanks for the info!

There will be a thread started to place orders, but noticing when you joined Blade Forums, you are not eligible to purchase, if you go to the thread at the top of the page about interest in the 2021 Blade Forums Knife there is a list of qualifying conditions. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Thanks for the info! And yeah I had seen that. It’s okay though! At least now I know 👍🏼

Single arm blade barlow. That's my guess, bird hook on a barlow seems odd. Seems like a typo in here somewhere either way.

GEC listed the TC below as a single (one) arm blade. Maybe the 2 is supposed to be an S, either way one of the dealers will come along and tell us what it means eventually.

Given the handle covers for the 86 2AB I’m guessing it isn’t a barlow. Looks more like a farm and field sort of knife with two micartas (three really) and natural bone.

I'm guessing that it is a Barlow.

3 micartas?

I also am amazed at some of the other guesses. I mean really grasping for straws.

I assumed red and black linen micarta was one material. I think they used it on the pocket carver, which was a farm and field, so maybe you’re right.

Micarta options had me thinking shadow pattern as well.

I’d be pretty into an 86 ancient Barlow, but in carbon steel, please and thank you.

86 GEC 2AB is just a name, the schedule has it listed as a clip with no shield and 440C
I say and hope it's going to be a fixed blade, if you like carrying small fixed blades like I do, it will be a nice size EDC

I'm guessing it's a single clip blade, going by the production schedule.
No shields? Kinda inches me towards thinking there's a Barlow possibility here... 🤷‍♂️
2AB? 'All American Barlow' (or some such)?? 🤔:)

With a stainless blade and no shield, maybe the 2AB will be a barlow with an acorn stamp on each bolster. 2 Acorn Bolsters?
This is my new favorite take. It would make sense.

I know in this post that Charlie made and another one somewhere else was alluded that this should be a barlow. If there are any other blades like bird hooks or one arms, I think they'd be listing them. You can look up at the Angus Jack and see they list both of those blades!

Anywho, Charlie writes in this post, "...I think it also previews a knife he will make later in the year..." https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...ility-discussion-thread.1779065/post-20439577
