Lets talk GEC!

I love the Barlow and the bolster, but have to agree that two micarta’s is a swing and a miss. Would have liked to see a wood version or jigged bone in place of one of the micartas. Either way, really like the design.
Takes all kinds, I love the red and black micarta if it’s similar to what they put on the 62s and ocoee jacks.

Interesting and a bit confusing at the same time. A traditional barlow with a stamped bolster and Micarta covers seems a bit odd to me. The natural bone makes much more sense. Sawcut would have been better yet. Hard pass on the Micarta but count me in on the bone, preferably without the drama. Here’s hoping they make a ton of them and tag them high enough for the flippers to give pause.

This is GEC we’re talking about. They made knives with combs and forks. Nothing makes sense. It’s all good! 😂😂😂

Combs? Pretty sure it's a cat scratcher. Don't forget the calf pen with it's flat head driver. Anything is possible 😁

I am starting to think Bill has a predilection for one-upmanship. All his interactions with Queen (crown lifter etc), last year’s response to the viper forum knife, this year’s response to the 86 forum knife.

Starting to see a bit of a ‘pattern’…

B blademan 13 Can't agree, this looked good at the time and still does.

Micarta is a tough material ideally suited to heavy use, Barlows were often cheaper work-knives with Delrin, unremarkable wood handles for cost and durability. It's only lately they've become concours objects of admiration and envy ....;)

I don’t think these are a response to this years forum knife but it do agree with the others and thought the possum skinner was a response to the 2018 forum knife when it came out.

How come no one is bitching about the recurve on the clip blade this time around? Because it was never really an issue to begin with? Or are recurves forgiven on barlows?

You are correct... and I see Micarta as a better looking replacement for Delrin.
I hope GEC is planning on making a bunch of these barlows, otherwise they're just teasing people.
Right?
They are masters at driving up demand for their product.

I appreciate them putting out something that is not their normal style. I've seen some comments about them looking cheap, or I guess looking like other knives that are cheap. But I expect that notion will not be an issue when we get them in hand. I also like that they found a different way to incorporate the GEC acorn.

I've also seen commentary on them looking cheap and that they look like something that Rough Ryder would produce. I am of a mind that we haven't seen them fully finished yet - they could yet turn some heads and for the right reasons.
