Lets talk GEC!

What would the stamp have been on the forum knife? That would have been a major point of contention. A big "BF" on the bolster wouldn't be very clean looking.
I'm ok with no stamp on the bolster, I agree it would probably be too busy. But if no rat tail, maybe a big S with a smaller s inside similar to the Northfield stamp, for spring street..

And I agree that a bolster stamp would look too busy with all the lines.
I was talking about adding a stamp and losing most of the lines, not everything all at once.
But it is lovely the way it is, I just happen to be one of those people that prefer a bolster stamp on my Barlows.

A few years ago, I had a brief conversation with Bill Howard, and I asked if they planned to make a Sowbelly. He told me he had made them for Queen and preferred to make patterns he had not done before. Since then, he has repeated many patterns but no Sowbelly. Maybe it is true that he does not like the pattern. As always with the Oracle of Titusville, we are left to read the tea leaves.

Unfortunately, I did hear from a GEC employee that Bill hates the Esky Zulu. For the life of me, I cannot understand why. We might not see that one again which kills me. I believe it is one of their best ever, and I was never able to get one.

This is truly sad news. The Esky Zulu is a great pattern and so rare. Having more around would be good since it takes an arm and a leg to find one and the other arm and leg to acquire one.

I agree that the BF knife bolster is a little plain, but it’s nothing that can’t be overlooked. It is the plainness of the blade that stands out for me!
Oh I long for the day of a serrated GEC! Maybe even a serrated sowbelly?

LOOK at that swedge 🤑🤑

I like the swedge, as I generally prefer that drawn swedge to the cut swedge that GEC’s “fancier” knives usually get, although I will say that it really just looks like the standard drawn swedge GEC uses on clip points. 🙂

Perhaps the 36 Sunfish?

Yes!

I would love to see GEC do a 26 or 36 run

Yes!

#35 camp knife!

Ooh, yes!

I would like to see some 25s.

Always a yes for me!

I still think we are due for a run of 14s.

2016: spear
2018: clip
2021 or 2022: sheepfoot

YES!!

I mean, it’s overdue, isn’t it?

The 14 is 3" in length (same size as the 25), and the 15 is 3½" in length. Doesn't seem like a huge difference until they're in your hand.

All three of those feel quite different in hand, even though the #14 and #25 are the same length.

but if the 14 was just as stout in width, it wouldve made all the difference. Well even just a smidge wider.

I agree they are probably due for a run of 25s or 14s. I’d like to see the same thing as an Angus Jack on a 14 frame. Maybe an Angus Calf?

I didn't realize it was that much smaller. Thanks for the pic.
It feels even smaller in hand. I love the 15 pattern and carry one regularly. I rarely carry my 14 because it feels so small. Mine is a singe blade, though. I suspect a two blade would feel more substantial. I also like the 25 which is the same length as the 14 but much more stout. It doesn’t feel so dainty in use.
