Lets talk GEC!

I definitely would be delighted with a run of 81s. I wasn't around for the Stockman run and I convinced myself that I wouldn't use the Bull Moose when they were released - something I regret every time I see one.

I grabbed this one off the exchange quite some time ago as a consolation prize when I was actively searching for a stockman 81:

it really grew on me and became one of my favorite GEC's.

I had a micarta moose and released it. When the frenzy hit last year I quickly picked up the bone right before the selves were empty of everything.

That is what I should have done - thought about it more than once and then found that I had procrastinated one day too late.

That is a lovely example. Appaloosa bone, if memory serves, yes?

Yes, Apaloosa bone, it darkened a bit in a very nice way from some carry and use. I'm quite fond of these covers.

And I agree that a bolster stamp would look too busy with all the lines.
I was talking about adding a stamp and losing most of the lines, not everything all at once.
But it is lovely the way it is, I just happen to be one of those people that prefer a bolster stamp on my Barlows.
I am not sure that I ever bought a Barlow that did not have a Bolster Stamp other than this Forum Knife and one from CK . All of the others have a Bolster Stamp .

Never found the need for EZ Open notches on Drop-Points, the 25 has a small recess on the pile side, and it is true that these smalls are stoutly sprung. I'd like more Drop-Points, a 15 with one seems right.

I feel guilty wishing for anything else this year. Was able to get my first 15 Barlows, a couple 85s, a couple 86 Barlows, and (fingers crossed) my most anticipated of the bunch a Pony Jack. I plan to sit the rest of the year out but I suppose a Camp Knife would make me rethink that position.

It really was a great year. I jumped in last September. This year I have picked up at least one cover of each pattern except #05 and #89. I cannot complain. I conversed with Randy about the 35 scout/camp knife. He liked the name I suggested. “Pocket Camper” 🤞

Yep. I grabbed a moose in Osage and an #82 Dixie Stockman in that Elderberry jigged bone they did, and this was back when they were just sitting on shelves. Man, I miss those days. I'd love to see another run of those. It's interesting how smooth they are without half-stops.
