Lets talk GEC!

I really like how these look.

Agree. The jigging looked like a Homage to feathers on an extended wing. Then I saw “cowhide jigged bone” and was confused.😅

I was pretty excited when I saw the owls on the menu. But I don’t too much care for this new bone version, and after having the Pony Jack in hand I think that will be the winner of the 68s for me… all steel, with the extra width and same side blade configuration it is just about perfect in that size.

And then there are those knives made for selling in the store during the Rendezvous from parts left over from Runs that were maybe made in 2018 but the blades are stamped as though they were made in 2014 that adds some mystery too .

Yeah, always some exceptions to the rules…here is my oddball, a rendezvous Beer Scout. The blade clearly marked as a 2014 but cap says it’s a 2015 and it’s listed in the 2015 production totals BUT it’s listed in red suggesting “previous year”…

I like the look of them, too, but I agree about the name of the bone color. It doesn’t make much sense to me. Seems like maybe Tawny Owl Jigged Bone or Barn Owl Jigged Bone would’ve been more fitting. 🙄

How many other GEC patterns have the name written on the shield? The 35 Sausages, the Beer Scouts? What else? Not too many....... kinda cool.

Here's Europe's biggest Owl- The Eagle-Owl bubo-bubo. So the bone on the latest WO which looks a bit like Winterbottom or Cougar Clawed should be Owl Talon Bone

Here in Finland the Huuhkaja is the nickname of the national Football side, there is an on-off resident at the Helsinki stadium who's been known to disrupt football matches by flying over the players at crucial moments;)

I'd certainly like one of these new bone White Owls, I favour that grooved effect and colour. The name on the shield less so..but could live with it :) Still, I fear that intercontinental flight for this one is too far as the Owls will be snapped up before release.

Its quite a while since I had the privilege to photograph Owls.
Finding them out in the wild hunting is an amazing experience.
This one is a great Gray Owl if you take all the feathers of they are as skinny as a skinny thing.
😁

My photographic site is non commercial but I dont know if I can add a link?

Reminds me of Bobby De Niro in Taxi Driver

you looking at me?

So who’s taking a guess on how many new knife patterns are left in 2021?

My guess is we may see one pattern with two cover options. This assumes the whit owls get finished and shipped in November and the last two made and shipped in December.

No matter what, GEC has turned out some amazing knives in 2021!
Still waiting for a canoe. Lol. Hard to tell what they will come up with next. All part of the fun isn't it? Maybe a bail version of the 68? Maybe one more pattern? Possibly a short run of a couple variations of something, then carry that over starting the new year with more variations? Maybe something really Christmasy cool for us to scramble around some more to try and get one. Who cares, I'm all in on whatever it is!

A big single blade canoe. Clear acrylic with red and green glitter flake. Santa sleigh etching! Call it the the Big Indian Frontier something another. I don't know, but I'd buy one.
