Lets talk GEC!

GEC has done 2 stainless patterns this year, which seems like one more than usual, so if we are lucky maybe more will come next year........

GEC released three stainless models in 2021 (the 89s in three acrylics and the stag 05s with two blade shapes, both in 420HC, and the 86 2ABs in three handle materials in 440C). If I recall correctly, the last previous stainless knives were the 99 Wall Streets in 2018 (three handle types in 440C).

Nothing new under the sun,I have just seen a Sheffield vintage knife with one main blade and a dog grooming comb on the other side (I kid you not).

Remind you of anything?

No doubt some of the best and most collectable knives ever made
That soup bone ancient is amazing!
Those third-cut stags honestly look really nice, Charlie. I’ve seen soup bone TC’s before, but I don’t know that I’d seen the third-cut stag. Thanks for sharing!
WOWEEE!! I'd take any of that 3rd cut stag over the gnarly bark stuff any day of the week. ❤️
Thanks for the nice remarks, Friends!!

I'm hooked on GEC. Been collecting traditional knives for over 35 years. My thanks to all that have shared their knives, their stories, and their wisdom. It is a huge contribution to the collecting community. My first Rendezvous was 2009 and I have attended every one since then with the exception of the 2010. Best place to meet and learn. Thanks to all that have shared over the years. I am so grateful. And it's FUN !!!!

Harry,

The pleasure was all mine. You and your wife are certainly missed on the porch. As are so many others. It's good people like you that share conversation and stories that drive the next generation to carry on the tradition. The wisdom learned from elders is irreplaceable and cannot be obtained from books or other sources. These are life lessons that are specific to each individual. Priceless information. Valued information. Please accept my sincere heartfelt gratitude. Life has blessed me with kind helpful people and a rewarding career. I owe so much of it to my loving wife, Kim.

Truly a remarkable knife, understandably sought after too. But on seeing Charlie's Soupbone Ancient, all sense of perspective has departed from me 😍
Going to be a bit sacrilegious here and even though I’m a huge fan of Mr. CC’s designs, I’m not a fan of the Ancients. I like my patina earned and always find myself looking unfavorably on “faux” weathering whether it is found on/in knives, hot rods, furniture, restaurants or barrooms. There is something very pleasing about honest wear that is earned over time that just can’t be emulated.

The best feature on the ancients is the blade. I am huge fan of it compared to a regular spear

Is an all steel construction knife going to be a bad user in a humid area? I know there will be some corrosion, which is fine, but it seems like it could compromise the function pretty quickly down in the frame. I use all of my knives, and want to add a few GECs for their beauty and tradition. I'm thinking the Pony Jack isn't where I want to start, though. I do like the clip point and the long pull, but wood covers aren't ideal either.
