Not too many flaws in this one!! I just rescued it on a quick run across the Border!! The first time I've been able to CE and CF it. Waited nearly two years!! But it was Round-up Time!!A cosmetically flawed knife from GEC or any other maker for that matter, if appropriately priced, can be some of the best knives in the drawer and quite useful.
That is an exceptionally fine example, Charlie - that’s my kind of Stag! Not too many flaws in this one!! I just rescued it on a quick run across the Border!! I would say that was the builder's intent. Not only is it not a stupid idea, it is the exact opposite of that.Stupid(?) question.
Northfield UN-X-LD 852211 Harness Jack, #24 in Stag. Tidioute 828318 Dixie Stockman, Not numbered, Jigged bone covers.
Both are users, have a patina, and all the blades* have been sharpend by me, on a guided rod sharpener to 10 DPS/ 20 degrees inclusive. I don't know if the previous owners sharpened them.
*Excluding the punch blade.View attachment 1708019View attachment 1708020View attachment 1708021View attachment 1708022
I'm not worried about any remaining "Collector Value". The 85 was gifted to me in 2020, I won the 82 in a GAW, this year. Neither will be sold by me. If my final "wishes" are granted, my heir won't sell them either ... if for no other reason than they'll be in my pocket when I get planted.
Anyway, would YOU pair and carry them for say 367.25 consecutive days, or longer?
I really like and enjoy these knives. I'm very tempted to drop them in my pocket on 01/01/2022 and leave them there, until at least 01/03/2023.
Stropping will maintain a working edge. I doubt I'll need to use a stone on them.
I'll have either my vintage 7OT with 1095 blade, or a Buck 110 with a 5160 carbon steel blade, on my belt for heavy/hard use, and the Toferner Celtic Pocket/Neck knife on me, as well.
Anyway, what say you? Carry every day for a year or more, or is that a stupid idea?
Do it!Stupid(?) question.

If you love a knife, use it. Tubes make them sad. Use them till they don't go anymore.Stupid(?) question.
