It's difficult to tell, since it's out of focus... but it looks more like a sort of shallow fissure to me. That is a fairly "grainy" piece of wood...

There was so much angst and handwringing about the Sawcut Bone on these new 77’s! You guys had me worried. But, good grief, who can complain about these beauties?! They are amazing. Not much different than the Original Gangster Case Sawcut Barlows from the glory days. Another classic knife for the ages from GEC.
