Lets talk GEC!

Not fond of barlows?! Those are fightin’ words around here! Just kidding congrats on the barlows.
OK, I'm really liking this 77 Yankee. I don't like a lot bulk and weight in my pocket. I prefer 3-3/4to 4 " single blades. My favorite GEC single blade for EDC right now is the 74 Mustang Burlap Micarta as it balances nice in my pocket, and I don't really feel it. Even though this has a lot more bolster and bone handles, it only weighs 2 grams more. I like it much more than the 2AB as it falls over in the pocket. A single spear blade wouldn't be my first choice as they typically lack a point. This has a nice centered point and balances nicely in my pocket. Once I get my cocobolo, I will choose one to put in my EDC's.

The mustang is one of the best in my opinion. I’m really excited to finally be able to try out a 77 barlow. I also went with cocobolo.

So when you picture a knife together with one of your Carved Critters . . . does that mean that knife did the carving?
Not necessarily, the last two were used to help show the size of the piece. Most of my carving is done with a 62 PC, a 38 English whittler, or carving specific knives depending on my mood or if I am at home.

You have to be very proud of that my friend . Beautiful Matched Stag with what looks like very deep grooves and heavy texture . Carry it in good health .

Harry
Thank you very much Harry, I am very proud of this one. Even more so after your comment, when I think of great stag, I think of the beautiful examples in your collection. I truly appreciate the compliment

I have a pony jack which is one of my favorites. The cocobolo wood appears to have open or deep grains, but I am a little concerned as one may be a crack. Does GEC offer warranty services?

Best regards,
