Lol, I threw it in the cart to get free shipping. It's the only 15 cap lifter I own. It's great though, thrown in the pocket, backpack, or cooler no problems. Put on the cheese board, left by the grill, or on the counter it always does the job. The 85 crown lifter has taken some reps from it, however it's just a great little knife and that's all it's supposed to be.That ebony crown lifter might be my favorite of all the 15 caplifers, beerscouts included![]()
Yeah, I remember watching those sit on websites thinking “I have a soda scout, I don’t need one of those.” Then when they were gone, I wished I had gotten one. Oh, the good old days.Lol, I threw it in the cart to get free shipping. It's the only 15 cap lifter I own. It's great though, thrown in the pocket, backpack, or cooler no problems. Nice! I do like the natural micarta as well. I did discover when sharpening that whoever at GEC that was tasked with sharpening left the tip almost without a secondary bevel. But I remedied that:Tip is well hidden, sweet run of 71s.
I couldn’t pass up on the natural micarta. GEC always has great natural micarta
Beautiful! The pulls on this one will satisfy those who have objected to weak pulls recently. I wish this didn't have half stops, actually, because that sudden JUMP is very chancy when opening it with my thumb. But it DOES mean the screwdriver stops very positively at the right angle position, handy in tight spots. Haven't used the cap lifter part of the driver yet, but the driver itself is EXCELLENT, crisply ground and well sized.
Look at how skinny that bevel is after sharpening! Makes a new Opinel look like a log splitter:

This is actually one of my most impeccably made GECs, ironic for a Farm and Field model. Gapless, centered, and straight:

It's also the most comfortable GEC I've owned yet. I LOVE holding it, and the blade just IS exactly where I would like it to be when I use it.

Instant classic, and will strongly remind me to trim my fingernails.
