Lets talk GEC!

Thank you I missed it somehow.

There is something special about the lines of a Wharncliff Trapper. One of the most attractive patterns in my opinion. It is no surprise that Tony Bose favored it. The GEC version is different but still compares favorably. They have a great source of African Blackwood and Ebony. It is usually extremely dark and buttery. My favorite handle materials.
Gabon Ebony is often darker, and more "buttery"!! African Blackwood has more of a tendency to be streaked, with brown, and sometimes grey!! Of course they both vary considerably.

GEC Rozee spells it Rozee. Grant it, it's not the most common spelling, however it is hers.

En Tournée.
The Euro Travel Kit, consists of obligatory steak knife (65 IPB) , EDC (39 HR) , 1200 diamond plate and 3-sided strop. KPL.

Works well.

I took these two pics today and was trying to figure out where to post them. New additions? No, I’ve had one of these knives for years. 78 thread? Each pic features a 78 from the current run, but there are also two other patterns. Well, they’re all GEC knives, so I’m putting them here.

I was pleasantly surprised by the GP SFO 78. I thought it looked cool when I bought it, but I like it even more than expected now that I have it in hand.

I was even more pleasantly surprised by the little 05 keychain knife. I’ll admit, when these first came out, with the stag scraps covers and little keyring and fob, I made fun of them. I thought they looked like they’d been haphazardly thrown together. I thought they looked cheap. I thought they were remarkably un-GEC. I should have known better. As a Nifebrite fan, I couldn’t pass this SFA up when it came up for sale, and I have to admit, the quality of the knife is very much on par with what you’d normally expect from GEC. It’s a nice little knife that has definitely exceeded my expectations.

I was really hoping to find a charred oak 78 to go with my charred oak Beer Scout (and I’m definitely still looking for one), but for now, I think one pairs with it pretty well. Now GEC just needs to make a scotch-themed knife and we’ll have all the makings of a George Thorogood song. 😁

Well I finally reached a consensus for my least desirable blade shape amongst all the different blades and patterns I have used,I have tried to use most patterns for a week or more to try and to get a feel for practicality in everyday use and I've concluded that the infamous 85 potbelly takes the show,I found on a few occasions that the blade just left me frustrated. One blade I have not tried is the real ramsfoot/lambsfoot on 93 but briefly used it on the 88 ,but I'm sure it wouldn't be a bottom feeder seeing as I like the wharncliffe so much.

GEC is hiring and has some job listings on their website.

Sadly, the position of “smart aleck know it all” was not available, so I am just here waiting for something to open up in my area of expertise.
