Lets talk GEC!

The history behind the 91 is really cool, and it makes me wonder if there is a similar story behind the 4 sheepsfoot bladed 53. I think it was the 530411

I found the add that led me through a half day of finding and reading about miner knives, and as I stated in my earlier post (which was confusing, since I didn't add miners knife until my edit)there wasn't alot of material yet you would think a 4 blade knife would be sought after back in the day.View attachment 2715143but in all my searching I could never find the 4 bladed western miners knife, anyone have a picture of one.

It always amazed me that the single blade 15 is one of the most popular pattern to use and collect,I like it for it's basic size and function but I rarely carry one, maybe it goes back to my early years working in the bush on brush and timber removal or as a trapper and or a driller.i remember walking into those bush camps as teenager and having to bump shoulders with all those aged and grizzled veterans of the fraternity, and one thing was for sure a single bladed knife was considered useless and only a lazy man offered a dull blade.PS:I almost do nothing now,so why am i using and collecting knives I don't regularly use.so anyone have any 15's for sale I traded most of mine lol.

First 4 blade knife since 2016? 98 Texas camp knife?
Pretty excited, no joke. Never imagined this very obscure and old historic pattern would be reproduced. Let alone, GEC making it happen.
There are so many "wow, another first" going on in my pea brain at moment. 😆 Foremost, I'm grateful it happened under the SFO of Franks classic knives. His love for historical patterns is real. (We all know a few of those rare fellas, eh? 😅) I'm so excited for many reasons.

I personally expected a stockman 91, like BF knife, and not sure if I am interested in the "dynamite" configuration, even though it's a cool rare pattern itself.

What's more important, I am not sure it would be comfortable to use that knife, while closed blades are so proud.

I love the four sheepfoot blades, but I think the rarity, desire, and cost will make it unobtainable for me.

The absolute slowest mover in the history of GEC was their #53 Cuban Castro with four straight-edged blades. Didn't make any sense to me then, still doesn't. If I'm gonna carry a knife that big and heavy, I want more utility than four of the same blades. The Bocote is sure pretty, though.

I don’t know about the #53 CC, however the dynamite knife has a very specific history with the orginal target market geared to a specific task, similar to the muskrat configuration. Does it translate to 2024? Probably not, especially if you don’t deal with dynamite on the daily.🧨
