Lets talk GEC!

- saddest of all perhaps, is the darkening of Desert Ironwood. Have had some that started off looking like gold was engrained in the handle………….not so pretty now 😢
Bloodwood as well. 😢
Some woods age-darken to their aesthetic detriment, and some get more beautiful!! Cherry is one that benefits from aging most times!!

I think bloodwood ages wonderfully, especially if carried.
Have some pictures of aged bloodwood?
No, out of town so maybe next week.
Here are pics of aged Cherry. The bowl is Cherry, the table is Maple! The bowl started out almost the same color as the table, but darkened as it
oxidized and aged!!!

Bowl turned by a local BC artist!!

Yes waynorth waynorth - have worked with a lot of timbers (architect/interior designer) and Cherry sure darkens, but if you catch it young, you can bring out the contrast in the grain more with lots of coats of oil.

Walnut on the other hand, that lightens, particularly with uv exposure.

Conversely, the Desert Ironwood I have - in the safe and light-tight boxes - that darkens purely through oxidisation

Short Drop Points are unusual on a GEC - the only example I have is this secondary on a 2014 Dixie Stockman:

Beautiful example and the Stag Dixie DID look better with a shield, such a clever assortment of blades too.

The Drop-Point 25 is in my view the best of the pattern and thankful to have one. You need a macho thumbnail for this one no exaggeration :D
