Ya I can see a knife sharpener being importantAll I would add is, that if we are to the point where the only option for the doctor to operate on me was a pocket knife. The type of tang is the least of my worries.

I'd have nabbed one of those 47s by now if I didn't already know that's not "my" pattern. The DIW is still tempting anyway lol.I’m surprised to see multiple patterns available on the GEC store available and not selling out quickly.
Your carvings never fail to massively impress!Did someone say Bob Weir?View attachment 3120868
That truly is mind-boggling. All kinds of goodness going on — but, the treatment of the eyes and the mouth is especially extraordinary.Did someone say Bob Weir?View attachment 3120868
Indeed! Never liked a wharncliffe, nor a congress frame, but bought a dealer SFO 62 once just to try out the pattern. Became a fan of both ever since! Foolishly passed on the recent Pocket Carver... Will definitely go for one next time. While we are waiting for our Doctor's knives to show up, here is one of GEC's greatest hits!!View attachment 3119436
The Easy Pocket Congress, well named!!! Sunk Joints, Round bolsters, and 2 good blades on a single spring!! Long enough for a good grip, an ultimately usable and carryable knife!! A truly evolved pattern!!!
Right thing to do! Don't forget to oil the springs, from the inside too. They will thank you, trust me.
I'm with you, Alex -- have become a big fan of the 62, as well.Indeed! Never liked a wharncliffe, nor a congress frame, but bought a dealer SFO 62 once just to try out the pattern. Became a fan of both ever since! Foolishly passed on the recent Pocket Carver... Will definitely go for one next time.

Another nice one, JB!!! Sweet!!!
Thanks, Charlie! I know that you have had a lot of great things to say about the 62. I'm wondering how it stacks up with your Northwoods Willamette Whittler -- do you prefer one over the other?A couple of nice ones, Jim!! Both outstanding!!
They are pretty close in blades, and other features that count!!! Hard to choose!! I have carried each for months with great joy!!Thanks, Charlie! I figured it might be close!View attachment 3121462
Which one??? The 62 has a slight edge for me, because it has half-stops, which I prefer!! Otherwise it's a dead heat!!
