Lets talk GEC!

I've been on the deck of the Tall Ship Elissa several times and will have one of these Sailor Knives; if only to help her cut the wind for as long as she can possibly remain seaworthy. She is a living, breathing wet dream.

I highly doubt this will happen on this run. History shows that when GEC does a run of knives, they all (including SFO's) have the same blade shape. The only differences being nail nicks vs. long pulls and satin vs. mirror finish. The Navy knife IS the short run of this group. Of course, I could always be proven wrong.

Personally, I'd love to see another run of 15's with a single spear long pull..... I just pray they put end caps on it!

My dream 15 is actually a single one arm Northfield, with end caps, snakewood covers and a bail. Not exactly the most popular blade shape, but since we're dreaming... :D. Heck, I'd settle for a spear long pull in this configuration. I keep scratching my head, wondering why no one has commissioned a Northfield 15 yet.... the rope knife doesn't count!

I hope they do a few bareheads if they do some single spears...an Antique Yellow Bone single spear with a match-strike long-pull is my dream knife. I'm looking for a One Arm Antique Yellow to convert it to a spear...if I can ever find one. :?

Three posts removed. This thread is to discuss knives, not where to buy them.

Frank, i agree in general with not posting to find out where to get a certain knife. But occasionally, like this Elissa Tall ship Navy knife, where it is available is so obscure that i can see no other way of finding out. By posting in this forum 'everybody' gets to read it and maybe 1 or 2 people know the answer. The only other way would be to PM everyone who has posted about this knife which is less efficient and less effective.
Rules are necessary but discretion in their application might further improve the effectiveness of this forum. It is not possible to properly discuss a knife if no one can obtain it.
I think this SFO Navy Knife is the exception to the rule.

I will say that some of the info on GECs website about who the Ellissa knife SFO was ordered by is incorrect; I called the number listed yesterday and informed them. If you call the number listed, you'll find the seller.

So, for the last 2 days on GEC's home page, there is a note at the bottom that says:

"The beagles are running with the coyote's."

Can someone tell me what they're referring too? I'm stumped!

I was wondering the same thing. I have no clue, but the two things I thought about were #56 dog leg jack, and a month or two ago Charlie posted a very old tidioute with what looked like the a beagles head on it.. posts are in this forum somewhere with pictures. If I recall correctly he posted that Bill wanted to take a look at it. Anyway, those were the two things that came to mind when I saw that on GEC's site today. Will be interesting to see that the heck it means!

Very astute recollection! This is the thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1343457-Woof-Woof!!-Tidioute-Cutlery!

And, it was an old Tidioute! I bet you're on to something. Anyone else have some insight?

Yes, sir that's it... Okay here's a thought just for giggles. "The beagles are running with the coyotes" = the knife charlie posted in that thread in bicote ? I'm sure everyone is getting a good laugh over this!

"The beagles are running with the coyotes!"

Unfortunate is this.

It takes strength to resist the dark side. Only the weak embrace it.

Our worst fears have been realized: Sith Beagles!

End well, this will not.

Mystery knife time! I recently purchased a #50 Bowie in Natural Micarta...marked Cyclops. Any idea of when, and how many, were made? I can't find them in the production total records...

Would it show up if it was made this year?

I was under the impression that nothing new was marked Cyclops. Maybe I'm wrong?

You could be right but it's hard to say as so little is released in stainless anyway....moan. Too bad as Cyclops is very cool and historical and their stainless is top stuff:thumbup:

Abolishing the Squirrel/Acorn etch and shield would be a sad thing too.....

I would also miss the acorn. Personally, I'm not interested in the brand designations. They could just brand all their knives as "Great Eastern Cutlery".

Pretty sure that H50 was just made in 2015. They made a few more fixed blades in the last couple months including the stainless H50 and H60 with the quilted natural micarta handles. We probably won't know the details until the 2015 totals come out next year.

Hmm... I just noticed that my white bone H10 which is 440C is not marked Cyclops anywhere. The back says "440CSS". I don't have an older stainless GEC fixed blade to say if they had said cyclops on them or not. I picked this one up November last year.

I think that Trand is right...the H50-60 that are around at a few dealers are 2015 builds. I got an H60 a few months back and it does have the cyclops labeling. it was the only h60 avail, although had a h50, no one else seemed to have them. then they were gone for awhile....then a few showed up at mike's CK site. just around mid november, and again at my original dealer site it showed up.
the H10 with bone marrow is like Trands marked 440cSS, but not cyclops marked

Joe, glad that you found one!!!
