Lets talk GEC!

"Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."
Somewhere deep within the recesses of my mind this rings a bell from long ago, when i failed to heed the warning.
Hesse, Steppenwolf ?

Certainly is the truth! I believe that saying comes from Dante's Inferno. It's the inscription above the gates of hell. Collecting knives is only hell when you can't manage to get every single variation of your favorite!

I was just looking at the GEC website. Lots of pictures showing the Waynorth Knives SFO: #15 Northfield Rope Knife. Very nice ! One picture shows some off-white covers, likely bone but i-vor-ee would be The Best. Likely GEC still has some tucked away.
If you know which dealers will get these would you please send me a PM.

Just curious where you found info on a Navy knife? On the production schedule, they just show a Sailor's knife.... all SFO's.

At least it looks like the 47's will be in production soon. I'm looking forward to the Harvester.

Walnut would be the appropriate cover for GEC's Navy Knife. Since the GEC Navy Knife is built on the small #15 frame a more appropriate name for it would be "Twine Knife" !! Just sayin

Aha! Thanks, I failed to look there. I already have several 15's..... I'm waiting for the 47's and 85's now.

lol, me too. I keep telling myself I will not buy anything else unless it's special... somehow everything is special

lol, I like that... "Tiny Rope Knife" would work too. The funny thing is it's the same size as the original they used in the Navy WWI.

The Damascus sailor knife blades are pretty nice looking

I think I heard that the steel was created from an old naval ship, and the wood came from the ships decking. This is the third (I believe) in "Lone Star's" series commemorating the ship. I thought I also heard that the $ from the knives is helping to preserve ships as well, but that could just be my imagination........

Edited: I was able to find the info....it's below.

Here's the info from the email from Percy Richardson who is commissioning these knives:

"These knives are being made to raise money for the ELISSA it is the Tall Ship of Texas, an 1877 sailing ship.
They are Damascus forged from the iron from the ships hull, mixed with w-1 and 52100 ball bearing steel. They come in a
walnut display box a Letter of Authenticity from the Ships Museum director."

"We have Devin Thomas forge the billets of Damascus for us. He is one of the top forgers in the country.
We send it to GEC and they make the knives and send them to us to finish out."
