Lets talk GEC!

I'll just leave this here. I'll let you all talk [emoji1].

The bone on this 82 has to be one of my overall favorites, but the slenderness and rounded bolsters on the 81 make it feel really good in pocket and in hand.

My goodness! Those jigged bone handles are pretty! 👍

Really nice examples!

I love that Osage Orange Jake! That's a beautiful knife!

While I personally like the pruners and rope knives quite a bit, I will admit they aren't very popular with most people. I seem to recall that Waynorth mentioned somewhere in one of the forum knife threads that a Sowbelly was slated for sometime in the future but not likely this year.

It's hard to choose a favorite between the 81 & 82. The bone on this 82 has to be one of my overall favorites, but the slenderness and rounded bolsters on the 81 make it feel really good in pocket and in hand.

I wonder if the Elk coming up will have an acorn shield or will they follow the shield-less Stag precedent.

I wondered this myself. From reading Bill Howard's essay about stag handles going forward sans shield, it sounds like "no shield" is the answer. Seems a shame, as I agree that the stainless acorn shield wouldn't detract from elk at all and would in fact, enhance the looks of the knife.

I realize that it makes the manufacturing process more labor intensive, but personally I would be willing to pay more for the shield. Just my opinion, of course.

The Shield looks like Nickel Silver to me. Compare to the Brass Pins right next to it. Mike's SFO had Pinched Bolsters and a Cloud Shield.

Thank you, Steve. Those are some beauties! They did a fantastic job on the jigged bone. Hopefully we'll see more of it.

Ratbert, rdave and Jake, thanks guys! I had a heck of a time tracking that one down. I believe I found the last one in dealer stock over a year ago. I wish GEC would do some more bone like that. I got it shortly after this 48, which is also called Copperhead jig bone.

Alchemy1, it's always a good feeling to own such a limited knife, isn't it?!

As for that 81 in my previous post, I was surprised to find it still hanging out on the exchange after a full day, at a decent price to boot. I wouldn't mind seeing either the 81 or 82 as a single spring, clip and pen. The 82 was done as a single spring muskrat. Not too popular I guess because I've seen quite a few languishing on dealer sites.
