Faux Tortoise is used a lot, I think the main reason being that it suits just about any pattern, other acrylics whilst very attractive (Church Stained Glass, Dead Skunk, et al.) are often very pattern sensitive and look rubbish on some knives. Just a theory mind..plus real Tortoise (thankfully not used now) was an expensive and lavish option on Traditional knives. GEC's faux version is really impressive too.

Regret that as I would've been happy with any except the wood one. I know one thing, I won't be buying aftermarket at inflated price, despite liking the knife very much.
