Lets talk GEC!

GEC has done swingguards?! Ive been interested in them for a while but the only knives I could find with them are the rough riders and case cheetahs, both of which people say have a tendency to fail and brake. I hope they do some more soon.

couldve sworn the 64/65 had some swing guards

Here's a slightly better shot of my swing guard:

The 64's and 65's are very similar patterns but there are a few key differences. The 65 has a copperhead style bolster while the 64 bolster is straight. All of the 64's are lockbacks but the 65's are a mixture of slip joint and lock back. The only swing guards that GEC has made were Northfield 64's. Not likely to come around again soon because they weren't exactly a popular pattern. Still, you never know!

I know one thing, I won't be buying aftermarket at inflated price, despite liking the knife very much.

I wish everyone would resolve to the same. If nobody bought the 150% marked up GECs two weeks after release on the secondary market then the market would vanish. It would only take one short run and a thousand dollars or so of wasted overhead to knock the habit out of the typical knife-flipper.

Unfortunately it appears the #14 Barlow will be subject to the same secondary market inflation. As much as I wanted one, I am going to refuse to line someone's pockets simply for being an unwelcome middleman. Let them sit on those extra knives for a while and think about it.

Wonder if anyone has received their 15 in chestnut yet?

I just got the tracking number for my tortoise shell. Sounds like some folks had theirs ship yesterday, so fingers crossed for a flood of photos in a day or two! :)

Faux Tortoise is used a lot, I think the main reason being that it suits just about any pattern, other acrylics whilst very attractive (Church Stained Glass, Dead Skunk, et al.) are often very pattern sensitive and look rubbish on some knives. Just a theory mind..plus real Tortoise (thankfully not used now) was an expensive and lavish option on Traditional knives. GEC's faux version is really impressive too.

Those stainless Boys fled the coop alright,:eek:us non American stood no chance in securing one  Regret that as I would've been happy with any except the wood one. I know one thing, I won't be buying aftermarket at inflated price, despite liking the knife very much.

Look forward to pictures of them in their new homes:thumbup:

Regards, Will

It seems pretty difficult to get any GEC's new from a dealer here in America too. I watched the dealer sites for these to be released and as soon as I saw them posted they were were sold out. The reserve programs all filled right away too. But I'm sure there will be lots for sale on the exchange this week. Always seems people have a lot of reasons to sell knives as soon as they receive them. Honestly though, I'm kind of over it and I never come to this forum much anymore because of the moderation style.

It's been said before. I'll say it again, "Do not discuss pricing or selling practices. This thread is about KNIVES, not the selling thereof.

The tracking indicates that mine will be here tomorrow. I'll post pics asap.

A #63, a #64 and a couple #65's for comparison. Notice the genuine stag #65 has a shield, the genuine stags were not supposed to have them  An odd duck I suppose:D
