Lets talk GEC!

Josh, this pic shows the thickness. It's nice and even. The photo makes it look a little wavy but that's because some of the coloring hits the edge of the pic.

Thanks everyone, now it's my turn to drool as the others roll in. One more thing, size wise it's better than I expected. Real nice fit.

I got my 15 Chestnut today. Great knife. Slight difference in handle colors, but I like it nevertheless. Best I could do to show it; but not precise.

Anyone else having a feeling things are going to get nuts once the photos of the #14 Barlows start going up on the GEC blog? :o

You want nuts, take a look on a certain auction site to see what the 15's are going for.

I noticed the drawing of the #14 two blade showed the nick for the pen blade facing the pile side, does that seem correct to those in the know?

The one I received has a smooth surface. It's hard to tell from pictures, when I've looked at elk knives online I perceived the black lines as grooves... the black lines you see here are flat. The close up picture from the top looks a little wavy, but in person appears even.

Nice knives, guys. I'm looking forward to receiving mine. I wasted soooooo much time refreshing dealer websites with no luck. Luckily I was able to get one from a preorder. I would have liked more. Hopefully GEC will make more. I wonder why they ran so many of the navy knives and so few of the boys knives???

It can be. This one almost looks like sambar stag.

A few popped up and I grabbed a tortoise shell in addition to the jigged bone. I'm not sure if I'll like the acrylic. It's my first (from GEC or any other maker). Do I need to wear a suit and monocle when carrying the knife? ;) Missed the elk AGAIN. It would be helpful if the dealers blogged the date and time that they will be listing the knives so that I didn't have to refresh the page for days!

These are looking great guys! I swung and missed on the elk but am expecting my tortoise shell in a couple of days. I've always liked the elk handles and your photos are making me jealous!
I had no idea the chestnut would have so much character! I remember Canal Steet having several offerings of old barn chestnut at the end and they all looked dark and not near as grainy.
Looking forward to more pics to drool over!
