Lets talk GEC!

Do you think GEC will ever do a run with tip bolsters? I sure would love it if they did a run of these keeping the main blade as is, but a nail file secondary. Maybe even a whittler style with another blade next to the nail file.

Jeff, I hope you don't mind that I borrowed your pic;)

Brett, thank you for using my pic. I also wish GEC would make a tip bolstered knife, something around 3¼" closed.

This a thousand times over!

I just finished looking thru GEC's "Collect by Pattern" for a single 54 or 53 and (unless I missed it) there isn't one pictured. I was searching there because I like the "Northwoods Forest Jack" which is a 54 single with a "Bohncliffe" blade. I was hoping to find a single 54 with spear. Maybe next year from GEC.

The number stamped on it should tell you.

That one is a mod.

guess ill have to buy two, the jack and the moose! well, one at a time i guess. i just bought these tiny titanium bottle openers!

Violet isn't a personal favorite of mine but I really like the variations from knife to knife on how the dye took to the bone. I think they were well done and it would be awesome to see what else can be done in a variety of colors. As a few others stated several pages back I also would welcome a run of abalone.

I like the purple personally. The original run of Northwoods Forest jacks had a similar purple bone. I'd still own it if it wasn't for a bear trap pull.

The purple/violet certainly seems to have provoked controversy, never a bad thing. In Ancient times, Greeks, Romans and others, purple was the most prized colour, the preserve of patricians. This was because it was so fiendishly difficult and expensive a dye to produce, coming I think from some type of sea-snail. So, a little cost a lot and had to go a long way...perhaps GEC were ekeing out their violet ration... but, wearing purple or carrying it was believed to attract yet more wealth. I see them all seling out.....:D:D

Tip bolsters has been a big want of mine too, quality aesthetic look. Some GEC patterns are a little over bolstered in my view, relative to their size so Tips would elongate many knives. Shadow would be very welcome too, ( I don't refer to Sodbuster type here) after all, CASE, Queen and Canal St. have managed it so why not GEC?

It's about time for another run of Forest Jacks! This time with saber clips, perhaps.

I'd like to see something with brass bolsters/shields again. There's been a handful of knives from GEC with brass, but I don't see much around...

Sunken joints + brass would be interesting.

I could get behind that too, cbr.

I was just thinking about that with all the talk about steel liners and bolsters, how we never really see brass bolstered GEC's.
