Just got one of the new GEC large leather belt sheaths. I had some concerns going in, but wanted to give it a shot anyway.

First impressions are good, although the leather is not very thick, about the same as their pocket slips. The belt loop on the back is just sewn on and I worry about the durability of that. Only time will tell I reckon, just like with the flap closure. On the first day I was checking this flap quite a bit to make sure my knife was still secured.

I bought this thing to tote my 98 cattle knife and it fits perfectly. 98 whittlers fit pretty well, but the camp knives are a little tight, although they do fit. The more angular bolsters are probably the reason for this and the sheath would certainly stretch over time. It has been just fantastic to move the 98 from pocket to belt, makes carrying it way more fun and convenient.

I'll post a little update when I've carried it for a spell. I hope stays looking sharp, it's an attractive sheath.

The all stitched construction is what makes these attractive to me, actually. What's the point of getting a nice protective pouch for your knife to scratch it all up on the rivets? Granted, they could've lined it afterwards, but then bulk/expense comes into play. Let us know how it holds up!

I sure will, Wilt, I plan on wearing it pretty regularly. The stamping on the "flap strap" is well done and the 2-tone look is sweet.

Actually, what I had in mind, instead of stitching or riveting the belt loop onto the sheath, they could have made the loop somehow integral to the sheath itself. Like Case just basically cuts a slot in the sheath itself for the belt, not very attractive or fancy, but very secure. Another (admittedly fancier and more expensive example) is the sebenza belt sheath from GFELLER. I totally agree that "no metal" was the way to go!

Thanks Pt-Luso, you have a group of beauties also, especially that clip point #25 in stag.

KSF just recently posted their #72 lock back pioneer violet bone, taking the time to photograph and post each individual knife separately - they look great and would really look good on a non-sfo #77 or #25...

I was able to get the knife pictured in Gunstock Jack's photo above. These violet Pioneer bone knives are really nice. If you don't have one, you should consider it

The "clip" blade conspiracy happily continues...I heard someone say there is a "mystery" knife coming out in DEC....another conspiracy - maybe one of the dealers can confirm...
