Lets talk GEC!

I think a new run of 3.5" #66 Calf Roper Stockmans is in order. It would please a mix of tastes in the big and smaller department.

The 66 is my favorite pattern. However the calf roper stockman is my least favorite of the 66 type. The sheepsfoot blade rides too high when closed. That makes an otherwise extremely comfortable knife uncomfortable when using any other blade but the sheep's foot. If they fixed that I would buy. I like the 66 much better than the 15 as a 3.5 inch pattern

Just the other day, I was thinking how the 66 and the very similar 68 3-blade knives are two of their most efficient designs. If they do another run, I hope they use some classic old shields on the new runs... federal, crest, etc

The 66 might have scope as a Whittler too. But, I think GEC really nailed the Whittler pattern with the 38, far better than CASE's Seahorse, and that's a decent knife.

Will P I agree about the 81's lines, reminds me so much of my favourite knife, the Schrade 897UH

I find the 66 isn't as graceful, and I agree that a smaller #81 would be a winner

Those Schrades are sleek!

Thinking of shields, this one on the Forum Knife 11 is very suitable for Teardrop types, big favourite on mine. They also did a fantastic Gimp shield on the Galvanic Eureka release, it's a knife that looks fine with no shield but the Galvanic one was sensational. Can't source a pic....:o

Will, that propeller shield is a classic for the teardrop pattern! One of my faves!

I've had a mixed experience with GEC recently....

above quote edited to spare the picture reposting.

My 72 turned out pretty good. The only issue I had with it was the tip was higher than the liner. I sharpened and oiled it and put it in my pocket. Was over at a friends house for dinner and went to pull it out of my pocket and it sliced up my finger pretty good. I filed down the kick and it's been pretty good since. I'm looking forward to the 15's - I'm really hoping for no issues with them, but am starting to feel like I'm lucky if I don't have a problem.

That's funny, the stockman is my favorite 66. I don't find it uncomfortable as the sheeps foot is so rounded.

Here you go, from the parts knife run,
